D-Hive SUV Air Mattress + Other Goodies

Hey everyone!

As promised, here are some pics of the air mattress and a few other accessories I picked up for my JDM ET-HS.
I went with the D-Hive mattress that folds in half, and it comes with a pump. They also sell the same one with two inflatable “cushions” that go in the footwells to support your head, but I skipped those since I already had something similar that I bought for my daughters for long plane rides.

One thing I realized while setting everything up is that both the driver and passenger seats recline all the way back if you remove the headrests. You can actually use the seats to help support the mattress, which is pretty cool.
The mattress fits perfectly lengthwise, but it’s a little wide when unfolded. It’s a bit of a squeeze, but once you’re lying down, it’s totally fine.

I also picked up the Hasika Tailgate Tent. It’s definitely not the prettiest setup but it’ll do for now. I had no idea what I was doing at first and spent about 10 minutes fumbling around with it. Once I figured it out, though, setup took another 10 minutes.

For the windshield, I got one of those umbrella-style sunshades. Really like it, but the metal handle scratched the top of my display a tiny bit. Not a big deal, but I put a towel underneath it so it doesn’t happen again.

The wireless chargers are pretty useless, so I took some inspiration from others here and got a suction-cup phone holder that I stuck right on top of the charger. SO much better!

I also got some sunshades for the rear windows. They slide over the door frames like socks and let you keep the windows open while keeping the bugs out at night.

For the kids, I got a nice little iPad holder that hooks up to the back of the headrests. It can swivel and adjusts viewing angles.

Finally, I grabbed some padded leg rests for my knees because of that massive center console. They came as a set of two, so I might put the other one on the center-console armrest.

That’s it for now! I got everything from Amazon Canada and Japan, so it’s all pretty easy to find. If anyone wants links, just let me know.

Can’t wait to take this thing out for its first car-camping trip!

Dark Knight Joining The Ranks

Picked it up Sunday > tint shop on Monday > pulled the hubcap plates off Monday night.

I made it 60 days in “no car life”, between my ‘09 Jeep dying and this allocation Touring getting in to the dealer. Well worth the wait.

How to reset maintenance light?

I just passed 5000 miles on my trailseeker. So far, I’ve been loving my experience with the car overall, but found a weird quirk today… I can’t figure out how to reset the maintenance required light. I just had maintenance done to rotate my tires and I did not realize the alert was still on until I was away from the dealership. I tried to toggle through the options on the steering wheel and I don’t see a Settings option. I can’t seem to find an option to turn it off on my infotainment center, and so far googling also has not been helpful. Has anyone had the same problem and can help me out? I’m not sure if I just keep missing it.

Offer Review Trailseeker Limited in Texas

I’m really interested in purchasing a Trailseeker. I would be taking advantage of the 0% financing for 72 months that is currently offered by Subaru. I’ve reached out to a dealer near me in Texas over the phone asking for the out the door price on a Trailseeker Limited they have in stock. I’m curious how this initial offer by the dealership compares to what you paid or what you are seeing in the market. Any feedback would be helpful.

First Roadtrip in the Trailseeker

(Somehow the only photo I got of the Trailseeker on this trip!)

We just got back from a trip from Santa Maria to Grass Valley, CA with stops in Santa Cruz on the way up and Monterey on the way down.

This was also our first roadtrip with our 5-month-old baby, so big milestones all around!

The way up we stopped and charged at the Tesla Super Charger in King City which is next to a Burger King, then charged overnight at our hotel in Santa Cruz. We happened to be there during the Monterey Car Show and Auction and had multiple car enthusiasts say “cool car!” And even got one from the valet at the hotel 😂

From Santa Cruz to Grass Valley, we stopped at the Tesla Supercharger in Dixon. This one was near a Safeway, so we were able to use the restroom and get refreshments.

We were staying with family in Grass Valley and they aren’t set up with a charger at home so the day before we went home we charged at the Supercharger next to the Raleys.

Drive back we attempted to stop at the Supercharger in Walnut Creek but the charging cord was just too short. We’ve actually run into this a couple of times on some of the older Tesla chargers. Since the charging port is on the front of the car and the front is quite long, the cord just doesn’t reach.

We ended up charging in Alamo which had a super nice Safeway to use the restroom at and get refreshments and give the baby a break from the car seat.

We stayed at the Hyatt in Monterey which has complementary Tesla chargers. They are super slow, so we charged from about 50% to 83% in about 13 hours (said it would be 17 hours to a full charge)

Charged again at the new Tesla Supercharger in Atascadero which is at a new Valley Fresh market, again a great place to use the restroom, get refreshments, and walk the kiddo around.

All around a really lovely trip!

Oh! We did pick up a Yakima roof box in Grass Valley but it’s really hard to say if it impacted range because the way back is mostly downhill. I’ll try to remember to update in the future if I notice a range decrease.

First road trip 🥺

Drove from flagstaff to Las Vegas. She didn't make it. The charging plug started not letting go, did the obtrusive song and dance Subaru recommended for unplugging the car, didn't work.. the emergency release didn't work. Mucked with the release and the song and dance they wanted, got it released then got this lovely message. Hope they get it sorted, love the car still

Extra Level 1 NACS Chargers? Favorite brands? Subaru/Toyota or something else?

Planning to eventually add a Level 2 when I complete a solar setup.

In the mean time, Level 1 will handle our regular charging needs. We've got a Tesla V3 a mile or two down the road at a grocery store to top off before any big trips.

Want to leave the OEM one in the car for traveling and pickup a decent Level 1 to leave connected at the house for nightly charging. Suggestions?

I've seen some suggest Lectron and Dewalt. But this is all new to us and wanted the input from other Subaru/Toyota EV owners.

So, what happens when you load this thing up for a camping trip?

So, this car has roof rails and a massive boot, and a decent payload.

What happens when you actually load this boot up full up with camping gear, get the family in, put a roofbox on and head off on a camping trip? What kind of range would you expect to get under these conditions?

Very interested in anyone's experiences who has taken this on the road with a heavy load (preferably when it's all packed in the car or on the roof - not towed).

I've got a young family who love camping trips with a big canvas tent and loads of gear - considering this car for our lifestyle (and we currently do it in an ICE sedan with a roofbox and without any trailer).

Love Encore Training

We bought our Trailseeker Limited at Byers in Dublin Ohio, absolutely lovely experience. Since we live in the Detroit area, we were not able to get back for the Encore training. My wife was able to Facetime with the trainer at the dealership. The problem is that he didn't know the car, and she knew more than him. Can you all recommend a video or can she call Subaru of America to get a better run through of the car and all it has to offer.

Sawtooth drain poll for those with 12v battery monitoring

For those of us who have been monitoring our parasitic drain, curious who is still seeing it and who has not. Trying to determine what the common factor might be in the recent sawtooth drain stop on 8/12.

After you vote - please let us know where you are what model, its manufacturer date, and how you answered the poll!

Two months in - just hit 5000 miles and I’ve saved $1200 in gas.

The car had 4 miles on the odometer when I drove it off the lot. I traded in a 2020 Taco and even after paying for the increased electricity use at home, I’m still over $1000 to the plus. The gas savings alone more than cover my payment. Really like the car and am very happy with the move to an EV.

Photos of Daybreak Blue Pearl and Sapphire Blue Pearl at the same time?

i would love to compare but I have not been able to find photos with both shades of blue together in the Trailseeker. Anyone know of any? multiple light directions would be awesome. just so hard to compare across different photos and lighting conditions!

Considering trading in my forester

Hey folks I’m considering trading in my 22 Forster sport for a trailseeker. What are some pros and cons, dos and don’ts, any advise you’d like to give to a prospective buyer. I was lucky enough to be able to test drive one a couple days ago and it’s a really fun car to drive I just don’t know if I’m ready to give up my forester as it was the first car I bought and I’m a sentimental fella.

420 miles the first week, having a nice time

Got in my TS yesterday and noticed 420 on the odometer w/ 69% battery. Dumb but funny.

No 12v issues so far! Went with Ancel monitoring, keeping DCM on, and the charging schedule hack.

Which blue tooth enabled 12v battery monitor to get?

We are picking up new TS tomorrow and would obviously like to avoid this battery drain problem.

The mega thread at the top of this forum suggests getting a blue tooth 12v battery monitor.

We'd appreciate link(s) for suggestions of what I should order.

Thank you

Potential buyer looking for buying and ownership advice

Hello,

I test drove a trailseeker and I really loved it. A local dealer has a TS coming in early September and I have a chance to put a refundable deposit down on it.

I have a few questions.

  1. It is coming in a color that I do think I would like, but in general stock is so limited it will be hard to compare, so I'm wondering if there is any word of increased production resulting in more inventory in the near future?

  2. Current Costco Auto says I get invoice pricing. That sounds good, but is it? Especially since supply is so low? Though with visor.vin I've seen some pretty low prices, though some over 150 miles from me so a bit of a hike. Still, one listing for less than $43K miles from me and in a color I like, this one has a $3K dealer discount to get to this price.

  3. It is coming with pre-installed accessories such as cargo tray and cargo net. First of all, do I really need both? And second, they told me there is no way to remove them or trade them for other, more desired accessories. Is this legit?

  4. I don't have a garage. I will be installing a L2 charger outside, and I live in a place where it does get cold during the winter and occasionally provides 10" snow accumulation. Do I need the subscription features in order to condition the battery / interior ahead of time? Is there such thing as a remote start from the fob itself that doesn't require a subscription? (I believe that at least with new Toyotas, even though it's the fob communicating directly with the car for remote start at least on ICE vehicles, it still checks for remote services subscription status which is pretty gross in my opinion).

Thanks!

Battery tracing - no drain

Been lurking while I waited for my vehicle. Got it yesterday. Ancel installed when I got home. DCM activated. No charging schedule. No lock automation. Level 1 charged all night. Drove it this morning. Now sitting in garage.
