Ask Izzy is the free, anonymous directory Australians use to find housing, food, family violence support and mental health services. In the last year, the directory logged 9.1 million searches for help.

The Government helped establish it. Its own services rely on it. It has now pulled a contribution of approximately $2 million a year.

We're asking for it back – $6 million over 3 years.

Bitter after a redundancy - awards for new team

An anonymous rant so I don’t go burning my bridge who is my reference.

Made redundant from a small organisation about 10 months ago. It was a restructure brought on by “workload overload” but instead of just adding someone like we assumed was happening, the director added someone and then merged my position with another manager. Leaving me redundant. A few weeks after my redundancy, the other managers either resigned or retired, so for the past 6 months it’s been a whole new management team.

The rant - this director has put in applications for a bunch of major professional awards. One is a “team of the year” award. The team has been shortlisted and the completely new manager who has been there for 6 months is being praised on LinkedIn for their work.

I was there for 6 years. That was my work.

I’m obviously still bitter. I want to message the director how much this hurts me. I was constantly told how valuable I was. The award is for work I did. I was honestly a dedicated and positive employee who loved my work and the team. I haven’t found another position as the job market is so stagnant. I need this director as my referee.

So yeah, just ranting here. If any of you in leadership lead a restructure and then put the new team up for awards, please either don’t, or think about what this does for the mental health of the people you screwed.

Thoughts on replacement for the Flinders/Elizabeth Coles?

So the Flinders/Elizabeth St Coles is to be no more by mid-2027.

Anyone have any intel on what might replace it? I’m not keen on what‘ll happen to that corner if it’s left empty for long :(

Or, what would you like to see at there?

Sorry to the staff at that location, you are awesome and I hope you have a good offer of an alternative.

Is there a way for me (Australian) to travel in LA in early July and avoid FIFA/4th July chaos?

Hi LA,

I'm traveling to the US for the first time from Australia. It'll be in late June.

I'm a little nervous about all the crowds for the soccer and also the airport chaos around 4th of July (as I need to get to the east coast around then).

Do you reckon it'll be chill between 30 June and 4 July? I know there's a quarter final game on 2nd July.

Are there areas I should avoid during that time? Like maybe do tourist stuff (Hollywood) while the game is on, and avoid the coast on game day? And should I fly out to Boston on 4 July rather than the days around it to avoid airport drama?

Thank you! Appreciate it, I'm looking forward to the US (with a few nerves)
