Transmission fluid change — 115,000 miles, recently bought the car. What do you recommend?

I recently bought this car and it has about 115,000 miles, 2016 fusion hybrid.. I don’t know if the transmission fluid has ever been changed.

I’ve had bad experiences with transmission fluid changes on other cars. In the past, I changed the fluid and shortly afterward the transmission started having problems, so honestly, I’m a little nervous about doing it again.

For a car with 115k miles:

Would you change the transmission fluid at this mileage?

If so, what type of service would you recommend — drain and fill, multiple drain and fills, or a full flush?

What fluid should I use?

Is there anything I should check before changing it?

Would you do it yourself or take it to a transmission shop/dealer?

How often should it be changed after that?

I’d really appreciate hearing from people who have 115k+ miles on the same type of car and have done the transmission service. I’m especially interested in what worked for you and whether you had any problems afterward.

Thanks!

2016 Ford Fusion Hybrid: Loud Grinding Noise When Starting + Stop Safely Now + FORScan Codes

I have a 2016 Ford Fusion Hybrid with a “Stop Safely Now” warning.

The car will no longer start. When I first tried to start it, I got an extremely loud grinding noise, like rocks grinding together. On the third attempt, the noise suddenly became smooth for about 2 seconds, and the car gave a slight forward tug even though it was in Park.

At one point I put it in Neutral and tried to push/roll it. It was unusually difficult to move and would stop/resist about every 2 feet, almost like a manual-transmission car with a gear engaged.

FORScan shows the HV battery around 202–204V and several DTCs, including P0B25, U0401, P1A00, U3003, C0031, among others.

Could the grinding be MG1/MG2, the HF35/eCVT, engine damper/flexplate, or something else? Could the low HV battery voltage be a result of the failed starting attempts rather than the original problem?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
