I recently started working at an FC as an L1 after spending the last eight months searching for a job in my area of expertise. I took this position to have some income coming in while I continue my job search.
I’ve been in this role for just over a month and have built good working relationships with my AMs and Operations Manager. Initially, this was meant to be a temporary position while I looked for my next long-term opportunity. However, after being here for a month, I can see myself staying with Amazon and working my way up.
My question is this: an Area Manager position recently opened at my facility, and I would like to apply. Would it be better to apply through the A to Z internal portal or through the external careers portal? Also, I’m currently a seasonal white badge employee.
One of my AMs mentioned that external hires often receive significantly higher compensation. However, I can’t risk quitting and applying externally, only to not get the position and end up unemployed.
For background, I have a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering and more than 15 years of experience managing teams of 150+ employees.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
