My baby is miserable
my soul dog experienced an ivdd injury stage 4 about 8 weeks ago and was completely paralyzed. She made a full recovery but 2 weeks ago began experiencing a flare up. After returning to the ER for severe pain she was put back on prednisone, methocarbamol, gabapentin, tramadol, and trazadone. Pain is kind of controlled when she doesn’t move but other than that she is completely miserable. she starts shaking, crying, panting, twitching, and curved. We’re going on week 2 this Sunday and there seems to be no improvement at all. Is it normal to experience intense pain for this long? Has anyone experienced this before with their dogs? I would love to have some reassurance of other’s timelines with pain and recovery with stage 3 flare up. Vet doesn’t seem concerned, isn’t pushing for surgery either. They reassured me the second episode is always more painful but it seems way too long now. Family is pushing me to euthanize her as she is completely miserable and nothing like her old self.
