AITAH for refusing to let my brother propose at my wedding rehearsal dinner?

My wedding is in two weeks. We've been planning for 18 months. Everything is set — venue, catering, flowers, the whole thing. The rehearsal dinner is at a nice restaurant, just close family and the bridal party.

My brother "Jake" (30M) pulled me aside yesterday and said he has a "surprise" planned for the rehearsal dinner. He wants to propose to his girlfriend of two years. He said it would be "so special" to have the whole family there and "the energy would be perfect."

I told him absolutely not. This is MY wedding weekend. The rehearsal dinner is about us, not about him hijacking the moment for his own engagement. I said he can propose literally any other day — the day before, the day after, next week, whatever — but not at my wedding events.

He got defensive and said I'm being "selfish" and "controlling." He said "it's just a dinner" and "family should celebrate family." His girlfriend doesn't even know he's planning this, so he'd be putting her on the spot in front of 40 people too.

Our mom is now involved and says I should "let him have this moment" because "it would make the weekend more joyful for everyone." I said no. My wedding weekend is not his proposal stage.

He's telling everyone I'm "ruining his chance at a perfect proposal." But why does his perfect proposal require hijacking my wedding? AITAH?
