Linkedin Cold Messaging

Hello! I’m currently in the interview process for a role I’m really excited about, and while preparing, I started cold messaging people who have the same or similar roles to the one I’m applying for.

I usually send a few connection requests when I’m excited about an opportunity, but I don’t normally hear back. But surprisingly someone actually responded and she ended up being on the team I’m interviewing for.

Since I’ve never really had people reply to my LinkedIn outreach before, I’m not sure what the “normal” amount of advice or insight to ask for is in a situation like this. She mentioned she’d be happy to help with any questions or advice, which I really appreciate.

What’s the standard etiquette here? How much is appropriate to ask without sounding too pushy or nosy? And what kinds of questions are best for gaining insight into the interview process and team?
