I’ve been trying to understand the magic behind Wide Range Jazzmaster pickups lately.
I’m a huge fan of more traditional Jazzmaster-style pickups like PV65s and also the Novak JM-V/JM-FAT combo. I mostly play clean or slightly driven tones and I tend to care a lot about clarity, openness, shimmer, note separation, etc.
I know a lot of people absolutely love WR-style Jazzmaster pickups, so I’m genuinely curious about the experience of people who have spent real time with both traditional JM pickups and WR-style ones.
Do WR pickups still feel/sound like Jazzmaster pickups to you? Or do they feel more like their own separate thing entirely?
What’s the magic behind them for you personally? What do they do that traditional Jazzmaster pickups don’t?
A lot of people got Jaguars recently because of the Vintera III releases, and it kinda feels nice to finally be part of the Jaguar club again too. And yes, I’m aware the guitar is backwards for a lot of you, I am left handed.
Years ago I unfortunately had to sell my first Jaguar, but now I finally own another one that’s basically the same model/color as the old one. Feels like I got my guitar back in a way.
I am planning on swapping the pickups for a set of Novak's and upgrading the bridge too.
The guitar is really comfortable and plays amazing
Hey guys,
I got this MIJ Jazzmaster a couple months back and the trem arm feels kinda weird. It sits super low, almost flat against the strings/bridge.
I’m used to them having a bit more curve so they’re easier to grab while playing. This one feels awkward tbh.
Why is that the case and what should I do to fix it?
