Tulio had no way of knowing Jewel's name
As the title reads, there is no in-universe explanation for how Tulio was aware of what the female Spix's macaw he captured was called. It had to be this way based on how the plot was written.
One could argue he simply named her "Jewel" because she needed a name for documentation/care purposes, and he chose that title based on her stunning appearance. This seems the most reasonable.
Being as this is the exact same one that her mother and/or father gave her when she hatched, it would merely be a crazy coincidence. The main caveat to this would be that Tulio and her parents had similar thought processes.
Not sure if anyone has ever thought about this, but I found it interesting to consider.
