AITA for blowing up at a male coworker because he started copying my style and tried to give his 5 a year old daughter my haircut.
I am a female in my early 20s and I worked at a job for a while in sales and a gentleman that got hired was about 25 years older than me, married with a daughter under 5.
I am fairly alternative looking with thick bangs, a wolf cut, lots of tattoos as well as bleach blonde hair.
About a month in of this gentleman working with me he told me that I helped him feel comfortable in his own skin which I was happy about… UNTIL the next day he showed up to work IN MY STYLE.
He had drawn on extremely thick eyeliner, as I do, got himself a nose piercing as I do, and started wearing all black as I do. It got to the point that my managers called me in requesting that I may be change my appearance or take out my piercings because on him it was so distracting, and they didn’t want to encourage his behavior.
This is something I could’ve overlooked even though it made me extremely uncomfortable, but within that same week he expressed to me that he wanted to give his daughter the exact same haircut as me.
He then showed me pictures of HENTIA characters with my haircut, micro bangs, and a bleach blonde wolf cut.
I would consider myself a very even mannered and extremely chill person, but at this point I let him have it. I told him that it would be extremely inappropriate to use his child as a doll to look like his fantasies, and this kind of look is not something for a child under five to just be given without their consent.
After this, I felt kind of bad because it’s not my place and I don’t wanna make it about me, when it is maybe just this persons style but I just got extremely off vibes from this guy.
Was ITA for blowing up at him?
As a note, I thought maybe he presented himself this way outside of work and I just made him feel like he could present himself this way at work, but I looked at his social media and not one post or picture prior to this was he presenting himself in any way alternative.
