I currently live in a 3bed/2bath rent stabilized apartment with 2 roommates. We are all on the lease. Due to unforeseen circumstances I will be moving out six months prior to the end of the lease and finding a subletter to finish out the lease with my roommates. Does the LL have the right to increase our rent if I notify them of the sublet as it is only a partial sublet? Anything I should know? I have read my lease obviously and understand the steps needed to take for a sublet but our LL is pretty difficult and I don’t want him to make life harder for my roommates, me or the prospective subletter.
