My bf (M20) made a racist joke towards me (F19).
I’m black and my boyfriend is white and we had recently started dating about a week ago. This is my first time dating outside of my race, though I’m not sure about him.
We were talking about how our day had went when he told me about an altercation he had with his coworker. In response to that I said “Wowzers” (he frequently uses this term) and he pointed it out that I stole it from him, then he proceeded to say “Blacks always trying to steal.” I was genuinely taken aback because he’s never said something like this and I immediately called him out for it. He then tried to explain that it was a joke and he has black friends so hes not racist😐. He apologized but I still can’t get over it bc how do I know if he was truly joking or be serious 🧐 .
TL;DR: My bf made a joke, “Blacks always trying to steal” after I used a word he frequently uses this term”Wowzers.”
