I’m a male in my 30s with a wife and no kids (yet).

Been at my company for 5 years and I am a high performer. I work in Sales / Revenue Operations for a large logistics company.

I’m being tapped for a manager role on an adjacent team. Things I am considering:

  1. No meaningful salary increase. VP stated there isn’t much room for a promotional increase.
  2. Requires 2-4 days in office. Not sure which one it is yet. I currently work 100% remote and go in when I want. This would be a big lifestyle change to give up all of the flexibility I have. It’s about a 45min to 1 hour commute depending on traffic.
  3. I have never managed ppl before so this would be a good opportunity to learn and grow.
  4. My wife and I are not in love with where we live and she also doesn’t love her job. We have talked about moving to a different state especially if she got a job that required it.

Without a meaningful increase in salary I’m not sure the freedom and flexibility is worth giving up.

Not sure what I should do as if I turn it down I’m nervous it will impact my career negatively.

Appreciate any insight or knowledge from ppl here who have more knowledge and experience than me.
