Grinder with granular stepped adjustments that transitions well between espresso and drip? [$300]
I'm currently using a 1zpresso Jmax Pro, and I'm obsessed with it, but my son just knocked it onto the floor and it's cracked and bent. I want something with similar precision, but I'm intimidated by the concept of a stepless grinder; I really like being able to count clicks. I'm open to manual or electric, but I also need it to transition smoothly between espresso and drip--otherwise, I'd just work on fixing my Jmax. I've only ever used conical burr grinders, but I don't think I'd enjoy the brighter, more acidic flavor profile the internet says flat burr grinders tend to bring out? Like, I want my espresso bold, nutty, chocolaty... I've mainly considered:
the df-54, but I'm concerned about the flat burrs and stepless adjustment,
the encore berazza esp, but I'm concerned its lack of precision will feel like a downgrade, and
the Berazza Encore Esp Pro, but it's also stepless.
Please give me all your thoughts and suggestions. This feels like a major life decision, and I'm stressed!
