Hank is searching for a forever hiking buddy!

Hi all! My family and I were on Maui this week and decided to take a dog out of the shelter for a day through the Maui Humane Society’s “Beach Buddies” program.

We got to take Hank out for the day, a 5 year old sweetheart who would make a wonderful addition to any home. He LOVED the beach and spent his time there romping through the sand and waves. We’re told he loves to go swimming.

After our beach walk, we took him to the brewery where he was a perfect gentleman - no begging, and completely calm and gentle when meeting new people. We got him a plain burger patty which he took so gently and politely.

He was also a champ in the car and loved looking out the window as we drove along the highway. He was excellent on the leash as well.

He would make such a wonderful hiking / walking / beach going buddy and would love nothing more than to curl up next to you on the couch or in a patch of sun.

Hank is adorable through the Maui Humane Society, and they also assist with off island adoptions. I wish I could take him back with me to NYC but I already have a dog and foster frequently. Please spread the word! 💜

BWT, this is my foster Nino and I'm trying to find him the perfect forever home because he deserves it.

I know it's come up fairly recently that some people feel there are too many pet posts on here so I am trying to be respectful of that while also trying to advocate for my foster. I do think he belongs in this sub, though, and here's why!

  1. He's a NYC local: He was found tied up in the Bronx with a man selling his puppies (the puppies are with other foster orgs) and was severely malnourished (at least 20 lbs underweight).

  2. He's part of the Peloton fam: Peloton instructors and dog lovers Jess Sims and Olivia Amato found him and helped coordinate getting him and his puppies into foster care. Nino is currently in foster care with me, available for adoption through Muddy Paws.

  3. He takes his skincare routine very seriously: Loves being brushed with a soft bristle brush and rubbed down with coconut oil.

  4. He's a submissive in the street, cuddler in the sheets: If he sees another dog he likes he just... lays down (as if saying I'm friendly, I promise)! At home, he loves to snuggle and lean in for pets.

  5. He's so babygirl: Just look at him in his necklace and sweater!

Nino is estimated to be 10 years old (though I suspect he is more like 7-8) and is an absolute sweetheart - he is one of my easiest foster dogs to date.

Nino is up for adoption through Muddy Paws Rescue. Start your application at muddypawsrescue.org — if you're already registered, email adoptionmeetings@muddypawsrescue.org to set up a meet & greet.

He's approximately 52 lbs (goal weight is 60ish), house-broken, crate-trained, sleeps through the night, and gets along well with other dogs. He just wants to be someone's baby. Please be that someone. 🥹
