What are you guys favorite calzone places in Park Slope?

So to provide a bit of backstory, I was missing Gino's Pizza since while I know it's been a couple of months since that particular place closed down around Park Slope, I was looking for a successor of sorts that could offer a similar experience with piping hot pizza such as pepperoni calzones.

However, if that pizzeria didn't serve calzones, then please correct me because I was just looking for some pizza places in the Park Slope area that again could serve as a good replacement to the late Gino's Pizza.

Modern Chemist (7th Ave)

I’m curious if anyone has shopped at this store? I know the front of the shop isn’t affiliated with the pharmacy in the back, but the cashier (maybe owner?) tossed some homophobic slurs at some guys that walked by while I was inside the store yesterday, which caused me to go elsewhere with my business.

Just curious if he’s the owner (white hair, gives retired cop vibes).

Giving away this dining table + 4 chairs if you come get it asap today

Hi, didn’t realize my new dining table is coming in today so I need to get rid of my old one. My building says we’re not supposed to curb large pieces of furniture, so it’d be doing me a solid if someone who wanted this wanted to come take it off my hands.

15th St and 5th Ave. Please DM me if you want it and can take it today.

—UPDATE - I ended up just putting it curbside a little bit down 15th street (west side of 5th Ave). First come first served!

Are there any resources, places I can call, if I believe a store in the area is starving and mistreating their store cat?

I went in and this cat was skeletal. I don’t think they are feeding it. Probably starving it so it would eat mice. Also, I just went in to snap a few pictures and the cat must have been in the back or the basement. It was super hot in there also. Absolutely no AC, 100+ degrees.

This place isn’t on google, doesn’t have a name, and I’m pretty sure it’s one of those unregulated dollar stores that sells goods that fell off an Amazon truck or warehouse. On 4th avenue, there’s tons of junk in bins for sale.It just popped up in the last year.

What can i do? 4th avenue between 24 and 25th.

BRIC during World Cup finals - doable or crazy?

Hello, Park Slope. DC family here considering a day trip to Brooklyn for the BRIC concert on Saturday, 7/18 (my kid loves one of the bands). Hotel prices are insane, so we're considering an Amtrak night owl leaving Penn Station at 11:30 pm. Is that doable on public transit if we left Prospect Park by 10 pm? Looks like a 45-minute trip normally - but wondering how the World Cup final on the 19th would affect that. Thanks.

If you were planning on hopping on the Expressway at 17th, don’t.

Best place to see the sunset from Park Slope?

There have been some recent nights with a really beautiful sunset, but it's been hard to see more than bits and patches of it. Is there a good (public) spot with a lot of western sky visibility people recommend?
