Arakure's lore is the worst the game ever made

It overhypes them as "leading the rebellion" against the mongols WHEN THEY DIDN'T DO ANYTHING!

Most of the work was done by Saburo who wrecked the Samurai-mongol alliance ON HIS OWN while all the Arakure did was bust up ONE statue in the freaking garden and act in general like frat idiots.

A lore order even states that the arakure broke more statues BUT NONE OF THEM are broken in game and suddenly they think they're top of the world which is straight up pathetic.

It singles out Ayu and her government as the problem through calling it "groups lead by a single person" when THAT'S HOW SOCIETY WORKS! Even worse, the arakure are a new thing as it was formed by the leader Gaki herself so it's literally a group lead by her which is freaking hypocritical.

The lore even lies as the arakure are supposed to be rebelling against the samurai authority but it straight up says they take jobs for corrupt daimyos and leaders which makes them EVEN MORE hypocritical.

The arakure are supposed to be "dirty fighters" that use cheap tactics when MOST OF THE CAST can be considered that! Centurion, shaman, aramusha, juren, and pirate are the few examples of dirty fighters and in a world like this, dirty fighting would be common

Even worse, MOST OF THE SAMURAI use cheap tactics. Most of the samurai have smoke bombs, use arrows, drain stamina with Kiai, cause bleed, set traps, throw knives or shuriken, and kyoshin can even pin you which are cheap tactics that can be used anywhere to screw someone over.

The ONLY TWO samurai that don't have those as optional feats are hitokiri and arakure meaning that those two are the ONLY ONES that more or less fight fair which makes calling the arakure "dirty fighters" a freaking lie.

And that's just some of sloppiest lore the arakure has.

I'm not sure what the devs were thinking when writing something that's this absolutely straight up stupid.

Has anyone made a lore headcanon for the current heroes being genderlocked?

An odd problem with the new heroes from warmonger to arakure is that there isn't a lore reason as to why they're only male and female.

The official reason is that the devs don't have a budget big enough for two genders but they don't give a lore explaining as to why.

So why don't we create some headcanons?

For example, i headcanon that the reason varangians can only be female is that their predecessors were similar to the nobushis, maidens and mothers who took up the axe and shield to protect their homes while the husbands and sons went raiding.

But when a great danger came to valkenheim(possibly apollyon) and the husbands and sons found themselves too weakened to fight back, the maidens and mothers took an oath to protect them and went out to fight in their place.

Eventually they not only proved their worth but they soon offered their fighting skills as mercenaries to the other factions and help ensure funds so they can continue fighting, explaining why they can afford armor and why they can speak greek.

To this day the varangians are still made of mainly maidens and mothers as it's seen their profession and when a viking woman takes the varangian oath it's not only an oath of loyalty but an oath of motherhood and sisterhood to protect home and family.

Why is Apollyon listed as the warmongers' unique hero instead of Astrea?

In the warmonger's lore tab, Apollyon is made their unique hero instead of Astrea which i find odd.

Apollyon was a warden, not a warmonger and her character and ideals are the complete opposite of what the warmongers and their order wants.

If anything she would hate the warmongers and their order as what they are is a complete corruption of what she wanted for heathmoor and it's factions.

Astrea is the warmongers' leader and made the order so why exclude her for Apollyon?

If the devs wanted arakure to be a "punk" then why didn't they go full kabuki?

Fancy clothes, large wild hair, full on war paint, maybe even fancy armor with a helmet like the one katashi wears with a theatrical personality.

Instead arakure was literally based on 70s and 80s british punk culture (i'm not kidding), has terrible armor choices which barely covers her and acts like she's auditioning for cobra kai.

Why go for something that's barely japanese when there was actual historical group that the devs straight up ignored?

The devs seriously need to scrap the "alt armors" system

Seriously, this the most pointless idea ever since they introduced it with warmonger.

I've never seen anyone go capeless nor ponytailess with warmonger,

Never seen anyone use gryphon's alts

Kyoshin is more noticeable but again, very rarely have i seen anyone go shirtless nor have i seen a kyoshin without the shoulder ads and again on his demon armor it's hardly seen.

Pirate again is only noticeable on her caped set, her alts are based on colors which should in the base set not alts.

Medjay is where they went too far into the alts, he's the first to only have two sets which is taken up by alts which again i never see anyone using.

Afeera is one of the worst offenders as her alts only remove tiny pieces like her earrings which feels pointless to have alts for.

Ocelotl's only gives him more pelts on his arm while removing the animal faces on his back and changes his face paint, again on his other set i've rarely ever seen anyone go capeless.

Varangian's only removes her arm braces, head parts like the ponytail and her cape which again i've rarely seen anyone use.

Sohei's only alters tiny pieces like the cloth, arm and color changes which again feel too small and pointless.

Khatun like afeera, only affects small parts and color changes, again feels pointless.

Virtuosa at least tries but barely.

Juren only effects his head parts, cape, waist feathers and arms, again people barely use his alts.

Arakure's only effects her chest, face and arms, again feels pointless.

This stupid alt idea is screwing over fashion as it's taken away the third armor sets that heroes since medjay needed and barely alters customization in a meaningful way.

The devs can't claim to care about fashion when it's seriously limited and stifled by how little it changes and how certain alts make it harder to feel unique.

Something keeps throwing me off about the hero teaser

In the teaser we see a figure which some say is orochi.

While the weapon and movement looks similar to orochi, the armor...is not orochi's

Even when blurred i can tell the armor is made of metal since it's reflecting light, orochi is always seen in his base armor which is made of wood so it wouldn't be reflecting light like that.

Even more so, i can that the armor is too...bulky in places.

The helm looks too thick and big for orochi and is much more closer to the face.

The shoulders are more formed and not as segregated as orochi's

The kusazuri(waist guard) i can actually tell is more bigger and longer than orochi's

I think what we're seeing is the new hero but based on what's she's doing in the teaser we're gonna see her drop the sword and retrieve a different weapon.

I have a few big, BIG reasons to believe the so-called "leak" is fake

The weapon choice and the lore order "Moving Shadows" along with the picture itself.

In "Moving Shadows" Saburo catches the new hero defacing a statue which implied the new hero either climbed it or used something else to wreck a statue's face.

But in this so-called leak that appeared, which i believe is fake by the way, the new hero's weapon are tonfas.

That makes no sense as how did she climb a statue, with TONFAS, and how did she deface a statue with them? The tonfa's designs wouldn't allow her to deal enough damage to a really large statue.

The only two weapons that would allow her to properly deface a statue are tekko claws which would allow her to climb and scratch the statue or a tanegashima which would allow her to shoot it from a distance.

Even the picture itself doesn't look legit as every leaked hero so far was from in-game and had chinese letters but her picture has none of that.

These are my big reasons why i think this "leak" is most likely fake.

The twitter poll might also be a red herring.

Just saw a comment from the artist Fer_Die that said this about the poll:

"I doubt it's any of the first three. I don't think they'd casually name-drop the actual weapon set for the next Samurai hero in a Twitter poll.

They most likely included the first three as potential weapon options to get people excited and talking about the next hero without revealing any real information about what it's actually going to be. The fourth option, "Other," lets them keep it a surprise without technically giving false information. I think it's most likely going to be the fourth option."

While i still bet on either a jitte or a tanegashima, the poll could also be the devs just messing around to keep us engaged and talking about the possibilities while keeping the weapon a surprise.

The new hero's weapon is now likely a jitte

On the july roadmap after the tu2 you can see two repeated pictures.

If you look at the picture's blurred shape and compare it to a picture of a jitte it practically matches.

It's now looking more likely that the new hero is a samurai policewoman.

I still have some small hopes for a tanegashima but if i can't be a riflewoman then i'll be a policewoman.

And it kind of makes sense, a person of law and order against a chaotic madman.

There's now a lore tidbit about the new hero that might hint at a rifle

In the new lore order "Moving Shadows" Saburo in the castle courtyard ignores a woman who was currently defacing a statue.

The statue is most likely one of those Guljin statues that now are around the samurai maps.

Keep in mind about those statues, they're big, in hard to reach spots and look like they're made of metal or black stone which is hard as hell.

To deface a statue in old times didn't mean throwing paint on them like in modern times, it was literal. To make your point in old times you had to literally destroy a statue's face like that famous one of a greek goddess whose face was destroyed and replaced by a cross.

So unless the new hero was climbing the statue which would look ridiculous, she would need another means to destroy the face, by throwing something at it or...by shooting it.

A rifle is perfect for this as it would allow to accurately hit the face from a distance and with modifications like what pirate has with her bullets, would allow her enough punch to destroy the face.

Here's my bet right now: the new hero will be a female Oda Nobunaga

The lore says the Myre is in a state of heightened lawlessness which seems to mirror how japan was in the Sengoku Jidai before Nobunaga came to bring it order as it's first unifier.

Although The Oni is a crossover skin, it's still a sohei gone mad and will need to be put down to restore order. Nobunaga in order to unify japan, had to put down a sect of sohei causing him trouble.

As for the weapon she'll bring, i'm still betting either a tanegashima with a bayonet, a satsumata or a sodegarami as those fit this season's unleashed theme.

Which japanese god allows for an aggressive playstyle?

Just got this game a while back and i've been enjoying the japanese faction the best.

In rts games i tend to favor an aggressive playstyle and go for full destructive conquest (viltrum style) so i'm wondering...

Which of the big three, Amaterasu, Tsukuyomi or Susanoo, allows for aggressiveness?

Just watched a video by Sellsword Arts and Medjay's axe appears

It's a video about them visiting a medieval festival in canada and one of the fake weapons they have fun with is medjay's palm axe.

Like, it's straight up a one to one copy of the default palm axe aside from it being shorter.

It's so strange to see that For Honor will pop up in the most unexpected places.

Here's two bets i have for season 4's knight

My first bet is obviously the hoplite.

A hoplite is the single most requested hero by this community so this year might be the one where it finally comes though i'm only holding half a breath.

The second bet i'm invested in is that the new knight will be based on Vlad the Impaler.

I recall a theory a few days ago that the tabard on the scorching herald represents the two new heroes.

The griffin obviously is him but the first is the unicorn, japanese mythology has the kirin which is a being so pure it can walk on grass without breaking it and breathes fire.

The other is a dragon and what comes to my mind first is Vlad the Impaler, most famously known as Dracula, the "Son of the Dragon" and was part of the Order of the Dragon.

To make it simple, he was the ruler of Wallachia who kept it safe by using terror and unflinching brutality on the Turks, most famously impalement.

That to me would be fascinating to see, beating back the Mongol's terror with Knight brutality.
