IJW: 2001: A Space Odyssey (1968)

an absolutely beautifully crafted movie by Stanley Kubrick, but man does it get boring.

When a mysterious artifact is uncovered on the moon, a spacecraft manned by two scientists and one supercomputer is dispatched to Jupiter to find its origins.

if you’ve seen a picture or a video of a monkey smashing bones (very iconic scene), that’s where it came from. it’s the kind of movie that after you’ve finished it, you ask yourself “how tf did they film this”

7/10

just finished watching Requiem For A Dream, and OMFG

this movie broke me in ways i never even thought would be possible.

the movie centres around four Coney Island residents, whose dreams shatter once they become victims of drug addiction. this movie is brutally honest, raw and unflinching about its subject matter, and GODDAMN does it get intense.

Ellen Burstyn’s acting was beyond amazing. it was mainly her performance that carried the movie, as watching her character slowly break down is nothing short but HARD emotional damage, and it hits you right in the gut. but otherwise, man was this brilliantly executed. no joke, i stared at the wall after finishing the movie and asked myself “wtf did i just watch”.

this is officially my brand new favourite movie of all time. Requiem For A Dream earns a 10/10, with absolutely NO hesitation whatsoever.
