Vacuum reccomendations: Vinyl Wood Floor, Doggo, Chronic Injury Considerations, and more.
Hi,
We just moved and are looking to move on from our Dyson stick vacuum. If anyone has any ideas or thoughts with the following bullet points, we'd be incredibly grateful.
Budget: $200-$500. Would obviously prefer the lower end of that, but would go the full distance if it hits most of the wants and needs.
Size/Area: Apartment (walk-out to cement patio and grass).
Flooring: Primarily vinyl wood, but there's also low-pile carpet in the bedroom.
Type of Debris: Basically only dust and dog hair (we have a 35 lbs Mini Aussie). The main concern with her is the shedding hair. I typically clean and rinse her paws off every time she comes back in from being outside (if that's any sort of hint as to the type of person I am cleanliness-wise...). So dragging stuff back in isn't as much of an issue.
Planned Frequency: 1x per week, sometimes 2x depending on shedding time of year.
Main Goal: The ease of quickly manuevering around to get things vacuumed up as fast and effortlessly as possible.
Main Avoid: Big vacuums with canisters that have to be lugged around, especially if they also have to be plugged in.
The Dream: Cordless that has (1) a HEPA filter, (2) doesn't easily let hair get tangled up, (3) will last and not break down (bye bye, Dyson...), (4) and is able to get underneath furniture pretty easily.
Other / Final Considerations: I go through frequent bouts where moving around and making an effort for more than a few moments at a time is a mighty struggle (cranial venous outflow obstruction; it's a whole dumb thing...), and my fiance has a bad back (severe scoliosis) that flares at a moment's notice. We basically live moment to moment and are prisoners of our finicky bodies, thus why we prioritize ease and efficiency.
