Im 24m will turn 25 soon. My parents & relatives have started soft nudging me about marriage. I am generally a very happy & busy person. Never had an active social life even in school, college.

I have a few questions regarding marriage.

1. What are the actual reasons for a person to get married? Does overall happiness increase, or is it just for sexual needs and procreation?
2. Why do people choose to marry over staying single? My anecdotal evidence ( mostly uncs, aunties, and older cousins ) suggests that most of the people stay happy for the initial few years, most of them manage to extend it, then they start hating each other, but they stay together just because they've kids and they can't divorce. Although there are very few examples (just one or two) who managed to stay happy with a few bumps for a very long time.
3. What are the precautions one should take before marriage and after marriage ? Like I've heard pre-marital counseling, but what are your experiences with counseling in general?
