My brother has a secret child
I think my brother has a secret child and I don’t know what to do.
My 23 year old brother got with his girlfriend in October 2023. A baby was born in September 2023, meaning the baby would’ve been conceived before they got together officially. My younger sister first became suspicious last year after seeing a “day in the life of a mum” TikTok his girlfriend posted when the baby looked very young, but we brushed it off because surely he would’ve told us if he had a child.
Recently we started questioning it again because his girlfriend posted a family photo holding a newborn, and looking at her sister’s posts of the child and family, the child honestly looks exactly like my brother.
For context, my brother still lives at home with me, my siblings, and our parents. We’ve only met the girlfriend a few times. We also know he sends her money every payday, which we figured was because she didn’t have a job.
A few weeks ago I directly asked him if his girlfriend had a child. He denied it and said the baby was her cousin, even after I said the child looked just like him.
Now I feel stuck. I don’t want to betray him or tell my mum behind his back, but I also feel uncomfortable pretending I don’t know. Part of me thinks he deserves the chance to tell everyone himself, but another part of me feels weird that there’s potentially a whole child in our family nobody talks about.
