I am applying for Winter Semester 2026/27 in Germany and wanted some realistic feedback regarding my profile and whether I applied too late.
Profile:
B.Tech in Computer Science Engineering (4 years, India)
German GPA: 2.0
IELTS: 6.5
APS completed
6 months experience in IT Project Management
AI/NLP based final year project
Some exposure to data analytics and software engineering related coursework
Applied programs:
BTU Cottbus – Artificial Intelligence
BTU Cottbus – Cyber Security
TU Dresden – Computational Modeling and Simulation (AI track)
UTN Nuremberg – Human and Artificial Intelligence
TH OWL – Information Technology
University of Bielefeld – Data Science
Hochschule Heilbronn – Applied Artificial Intelligence
University of Passau – Artificial Intelligence Engineering
Bauhaus University Weimar – Human Computer Interaction
Bauhaus University Weimar – Computer Science for Digital Media
HFT Stuttgart – Software Engineering
University of Hildesheim – Software Engineering
Most of the programs I targeted are either NC-frei, interdisciplinary, or practice-oriented because I know highly competitive AI programs can be difficult for non-EU applicants.
Most of my applications were submitted around May 1, which is making me anxious now.
My main questions:
Is applying around May 1 considered late for Winter 2026/27 admissions in Germany, especially for non-EU applicants?
Based on my profile, which universities/programs from this list look realistic, moderate, or ambitious?
Are there any other public universities in Germany still open for applications that fit my profile and are worth targeting?
I would especially appreciate replies from people with similar profiles or recent admission experiences in AI/Data Science/Software Engineering related programs.
