To whomever it may concern,

Kuch jagah ghar ban jaati hai
Or Anjaan chehre dost!

I am into exploring places and have been doing so since my MBA. This May, we went to Jibhi. Here is my honest review:

Commute:

Mumbai to Delhi - Flight

Delhi to Aut - Zingbus, a little on the costlier side, but clean and comfortable - around 2.5k/person. You may directly book it till Jibhi from MMT - drop off from the cab to Jibhi.

Aut to Jibhi - Local taxi, 1500 for 2, might cost more due to recent traffic. Don’t try to save here; the roads are bad, and cheaper means of transport might not be safe.

The roads are under construction, especially the Banjar Aut tunnel, so the Aut tunnel is closed from 12 pm to 3 pm.

And post that vehicles are released in lots.

Expect min 2hrs-3hrs on weekdays and 3hrs-5hrs on weekends

Heavy dust due to construction, carry masks if allergic (even if not, please do, unless you like to eat dust)

Now the important part:

Jibhi is a small town; if you stay on the market side, it’s close to cafes and tourist spots.

I stayed on the other side, in Khun, at a homestay called “Aashiyana” (happened by chance as the property we booked was not available). But what a stroke of luck. The weather was awesome; it rained a bit, so it became chilly at night. The mountain view from the stay was a live painting.

The hosts Davis and Aashna are awesome (no, they did not ask us to write this :P).

Explored untrodden treks, hitchhiked to town, cafes, hidden waterfall spots, a river for a cold plunge, met people from the village, did some woodwork, and fell asleep in the beautiful cafe.

Met strangers who became friends.

And if you are lost, walking on unknown roads, don’t worry, you will have some mountain dogs to keep you company - Magically Always!

We shared our stories like we'd known each other for a long time. I guess that is what travel and such experiences let you do.

Cafes to try:

Old School - Great food, laid back vibe. Say hi to Pablo!

Forest Bean- Awesome Pastas, Burger, Spring Roll and Coffee

Moki - Amazing dessert shop. Cinnamon buns are too good. Lemon Blueberry Pie

PS: Leave everything behind, stay for longer if you can and go with the flow. Things will turn good, and you will have some amazing stories to tell and remember.

Until next time, Ciao!
