Can I shoot 18g nails into PVC jamb?

As the title suggests, will 18 gauge Brad nails damage the PVC, or should I only nail the part that's over the wood and caulk it to the PVC?

Extending PVC window stool for trim?

Newly installed Windows with typical flush PVC all around for "picture frame" trim.

I'm wondering if anyone has ever tried to extend the stool to achieve the style of trim in the second picture and had it look good. There would obviously be a seam all along the joint between the PVC and the moulding used to extend it (like a 1x2).

And if not, any ideas to achieve this style without?

My parents live in st Albert but I live in the city.

However I have the truck.

Will they need to come with me to prove they're a resident to buy a rain barrel, or do you think I can go alone? They have a couple medical appointments in the city so I'd like to divide and conquer.
