What to bring to all the incoming students for Orediggercamp:

I wanted to give everyone a quick camping item to bring for the Oredigger Camp:

  • Sunscreen though your Camp Counselors should have these, just in case you need one.
  • Your phone and a charger because you will be staying at camp for a couple of days
  • Showering items and Hygiene products like toothbrush
  • Water bottle though provided
  • Comfortable clothing like that will last you a few days and extra pairs of socks

You won't need to bring everything from your dorm.

Please have fun!

Clubs to Join Sophomore year here?

Hi everyone, it is kinda embarrassing to say that I never really looked into the clubs here freshman year. I only enjoyed some of the MEP programs and a few Mines events here and there. I have looked through the OreConnect website, but never really found something I was really willing to put the time and effort into.

Does anyone have any recommendations? I know clubs are a big time commitment, and because I had a part time campus job + classes it was hard to find any spare time.

Is there a good/bad GPA?

I recently checked my GPA and it is not great. What is considered a good GPA? I don't have the best GPA unfortunately because I got screwed over by a professor (Guerra I hate him).

In addition my major gpa right now is terrible because of one class. I'm not sure how much that matters.

Are there limits to transfer credits over the summer?

I'm taking over 18 credit hours now at community colleges this summer mixing and matching at different CCCS. I'm really lucky that I have FAFSA covering all these credit hours.

Maximum grant over the summer

I recently received fafsa from another institution separate from my main institution. Does exceeding the max grant over the summer affect your 26-27 Fafsa grants?

12 Credit Hours this Summer over at Red Rocks + FAFSA over the summer?

I'm planning on taking: Is this a good idea?

  • Statics
  • Calc 3
  • Physics 2
  • HASS electives

Long rant:

So I barely failed statics with a 69 yesterday. Still stuper frustrated about that. I'm really disappointed that Dr. Guerra ignored me over email. It's insane, I went to his office hours every few days, and asked a lot of questions in his 8 am class. I thought he was a nice guy, and he really did seem like a super nice guy in office hours, but no matter how much he helped I still never did well in their exams. I can't believe he would ignore someone who cared and showed up in office hours from email. Maybe the lesson is to stop going to office hours to professors that don't care about you. I feel really betrayed by him.

Last question:
Also, I asked this in the r/FAFSA sub a few days ago and got no response. How does financial aid work over the summer? I have already applied max federal aid over my Spring semester.

If I choose to take classes at a CC over the summer to transfer in credit to my main Uni, do I still qualify for aid?

I'm intending on taking about 9 Credit Hours, but I'm not sure if I can receive anymore aid if I got aid from Spring 2026 during my original Uni. I don't want to spend $4k over the summer I don't have.

At least in physics there were free iclicker questions, not statics though.

I don't think I have taken a class that has done that. Maybe this is why I like frqs better because there's partial credit.
