This! Why is this so elusive? This wasn't hard. Scramble wasn't anything amazing. Build blocks, do half assed cmll, LSE, done.

Feels real loose and smooth whenever I do it, then I go back to 26-32. I guess it was efficient, but I didn't even plan out full fb, just kinda knew where the pieces were.

How's it go for you guys when you can see the next summit, but know it's still a ways away?

Gan 17 dropped on Amazon and had same day delivery. Huh.

So, I've unboxed it and it feels all shiny and new and kinda slick on the exterior and bone dry on the inside. I think it's slick just because the plastic is brand new. Anyway, first thing I did was put the green rods in, as that's generally what I like and the first turns reinforces that. Rods are snugger than on past models. Had to use the tool. Probably a good thing.

Set it up with the classic angstrom setup and tightened the center travel to 2. Compression I left at 7. Seems pretty good for now. Classic Gan, 21 solves in and it's eaten up all the lube. I shall continue to feed it.

Busted out the 16 to do a little comparison. 17 feels less sturdy and rigid than the 16, has a touch more momentum to the turns, is quite fast, but also stable. Faster than the 16. More flexible. Feels crinkly, but so did the 16 when it was new, and that has sort of gone away and become a more solid feeling puzzle. (Edit: it's Picube purple lube that does that. Love that stuff) Hoping the 17 breaks in that way.

Is it a massive upgrade? No, but it is a nice puzzle. Gonna go solve it a couple hundred times.

Well That Sucks

Just opened Acubemy this morning and all the solves are gone. Guess I'll be learning how to back stuff up going forward. Womp womp.

Edit: it's all back. No idea what happened, but I've got all my solves! Pretty Cool of the dev to reach out right away. Happy cubing.

Woohoo! And also...

Sat down and just started solving really well today. Kept at it and, low and behold, I broke 30s on my ao100 and snagged a new pb single in the process! Nice. Been chasing that 30s for a while now, so that's a nice monkey of my back.

Now, I've been brushing aside a few obvious "things I should be learning" in order to kinda chase that ao100, so I've come to ask for some opinions.

Info: basically only solve blue or green FB with white on bottom if i'm trying to get good times. When I'm slow solving, I try to use whatever pairs show up, like, x2y, but i'm waay slower with even white bottom red and orange blocks, not to mention yellow bottom.

Still cruising along with 2 look cmll. I know my H cases, but recognition is baaad. I blame my oldness.

So, with that out of the way, what would you focus on next? Becoming more comfortable with x2y? Focusing on full cmll (i know ppl say you don't need it till 20 avg, but i want to learn all of my method at some point, and 20s seems like a long way away)? Drilling second block algs into muscle memory? Something else? I always do, like, 10 slow solves at the start of a session focusing only on efficiency, and it's helping... I think. I still rack up, like 70 moves on most speed solves. Is is more advantageous to do this, or focus on solving slow with zero pauses, which are definitely a killer?

I don't have unlimited time to train cubes, as I work and am a dad, so maybe a couple things to focus on for the first 30 minutes of a session before just doing solves for fun.

Anyway, looking forward to what you guys have to say. Happy Rouxing.

Do over

When you guys absolutely faceplant a solve that you know should be better, do you go back and work the same scramble a few times to try and get it right?

Also, is this actually a good training tool to help you to find more efficient solutions? Do you just experiment on your own, or use computer machine magic to help find those more efficient solutions?

Absolutely not posting because I Biffed so hard on an easy scramble that I traumatized my children and my wife asked for a divorce.

So, I got annoyed with the chipped corner that we all have on our rs3m v5 ballcore uv. I had a 2021 rs3m maglev kicking around collecting dust, so I figured I'd see if the v5's core would fit and it does! And the corner stalks were really easy to swap out as well (I suppose I could've glued magnets in the 2021 stalks, but glue and tiny magnets, ugh).

The result is honestly better than the original v5. The plastic is a touch heavier duty, and feels better and more solid than the v5 uv stuff. Cube feels snappier and, imo, more pleasant to play with. Kinda ys3m-ish with the edges smoothed off.

I want to put the center caps too, since I think they look cooler, but they fall out of the new center pieces. Any tips to snug them in there?
