Which timer buy ?
Hi ! first time publishing on reddit :) sorry if my English is bad, English is not my mother tongue, I’ll try my best !!
So I’ve been cubing for like over a decade but it was only on beginner method and I didn’t really try to be good, I’d learnt F2L but quickly abandoned it.
Now it’s been a few months since I’m back at it and I’m improving, I’m practicing almost every day and I can now solve it in like 40-45 seconds so I’m really proud of myself, my first objective is sub-30 and then I’m planning to go and try to be sub-20.
I record my times by using an app on my phone or cs timer on the computer but I am wondering if I have to buy a real timer or not. I think I have to.
However, I don’t know which one to choose. I don’t know if I have to buy a smart timer like the smart timer moyu or the gan (which is more expensive) or just a classic one. And which one should I buy ? I’m really lost as I don’t know anything about timers !
Thanks to everyone who will answer !!
do u guys think that these are good thumbnails for cubing videos?

this post is satire btw
My new 3x3 main is a 4x4
So my mom bought me this for my birthday last year (i didnt even ask her to get this cube), and it became my new 3x3 main, cuz my 3x3s are so old and unstable. Best gift i've gotten that year.
Big cubes
Max Park just set a new 7x7 WR of 1:30.59 and I’m sitting here thinking about how that’s faster than I can solve a 4x4 lol
I’m new to big cubes (I only have a 4x4 that I got in May and a 5x5 that I got last week) and I just don’t understand how with the typical method I know of solving centers, then edge pairing and 3x3 stage, especially with parity, people can get these crazy times.
Like my fastest 4x4 time is 1:42.77 and Tymon got it in 15????
My fastest 5x5 time (I’m still getting used to 5x5, don’t bully me lol) is 4:23.16 and Tymon got it in 29????
It’s just unfathomable to me and idk if there’s another method idk about or if I just need to get good? I’ve only watched jperm’s videos that genuinely just tell you how to solve a 4x4 and 5x5 and haven’t looked into other videos on technique, so it wouldn’t be surprising if I’m just on a simple method. I just see these videos of people doing big cubes and explaining that they’re solving it by reducing it to a 3x3 and so I assume there’s not a more advanced method entirely, but rather just more advanced techniques?
I buy cubes that top solvers would main because I don’t wanna waste money on a cheap cube I’m just gonna upgrade later anyways, so I know that my cubes aren’t the problem, only a poor craftsman blames his tools either way lol.
Good stickered 3x3?
I just got back into cubing after quite a long time. For reference, the last cube I bought was the Qiyi WuWei. I’m looking to get a new speedcube to try out all the new technology. I use custom sticker shades because I’m mildy colorblind and the stickerless shades of orange green and yellow are hard to discern in certain lighting or from angles. It looks like all the flagship 3x3s only come in sitckerless. Am I just cooked? Do I have to make a force cube
How do I Improve f2l
I've been cubing for 5 years now, and have been averaging about 30 seconds for 2 years now. I don't practice 3x3 a ton as I have so many other puzzles I like trying to learn without tutorials. Recently I've been wanting to really grind and improve on 3x3 and start getting an average closer to 15-20 seconds.
I learned two look oll and pll from jperm videos and have gotten quick with that, but I still use the beginners method for solving the corners and edges for f2l and it KILLS my solves because of the amount of regrips I do and its overall inefficient. I have watched jperms beginner f2l tutorial and understand all of it, but I'm having trouble applying it to solves still. I also feel like when I went to watch his advanced f2l, it's way too much to be learning too early.
Below are my main three questions
How have you other cubers learned f2l quickest? I have a gan 12 ui maglev smart cube I can use for learning algorithms, but idk if it's the best way to learn. What method worked best for learning? If it's a YouTube tutorial, please link it if possible.
Also, how long did it take you guys to learn it? Cubestation says like 41 algorithms which seems like a lot to remember.
Lastly, how do you guys recognize edges and corners that need to be paired so quickly? They're scattered everywhere like crazy and I find it difficult finding pieces to pair in the first place when attempting to f2l. Particularly when they are in the back where you can't see them.
Out of the box Picube has 3/8 loose corner magnets
Hey everyone,
Finally decided on a new cube, waited quite some time due to shipping across the globe and local import customs... And then 3/8 of my corner magnets are loose.
Cube looks and feels incredible out of the box, but the sound was unbearable.
Not an expert on cube troubleshooting since I haven't had much issues with my rs3m v5 and Gan v100, but this Picube V11 disappointed me quickly :(
Not sure who's responsible for the QC, but it's whatever since I'm planning on keeping, fixing and enjoying it anyway.
I am now looking for advice on how to not screw this up though!
I'm aware that magnet orientation matters but I'm afraid I'll make a mess and have superglue in places I don't want it 😅
I did make a video comparison pre disassembly in case I'll need or someone wants it.
My rubix cube center gaps got deattached.now confused
Guys help..I completed the cube, but the two pieces are always getting wrong, and yeah I am sure that corner piece doesn't twisted..help🙏😓
Just got my MoYu RS3M V5 (Dual Adjustment). Where should I learn cubing from as a complete beginner?
Hey everyone,
I just got my MoYu RS3M V5 Dual Adjustment, and I’m excited to finally learn how to solve a cube properly.
I could never complete a full solve. I always got stuck on the third layer, so I never fully learned the beginner’s method.
Now that I have the RS3M V5, I want to learn the right way from the beginning. My goal is to first solve the cube consistently, and eventually get into speedcubing and improve my times.
Where do you recommend I learn from? Which YouTube channels, websites, or tutorials are the best for a complete beginner?
Also:
● Should I master the beginner’s method first before learning CFOP?
● Any tips or mistakes I should avoid while starting?
● Is there anything I should do to set up or adjust my RS3M V5 before I begin learning?
I’d appreciate any advice. Thanks!
I wanted to do the 13x13 under one but I had 2 bad lockups so I couldn’t, should I just say I did because if I didn’t lock up it would have been
Am I the only one?
Just wondering if I’m the only one who uses this Z-Perm?
(I don’t use roux)
I did a thing
I think this would be considered a mod? I combined 2 Gan 13 maglev cubes to become a stickerless transparent blue internals version of it... i used my old 13 maglev and gotten the colore limited edition last week and am not disappointed with the results. (Outside of that the center caps don't seem to be interchangeable between cubes, the blue transparent ones are a very small bit smaller :o)
