My daughter works in a restaurant in Illinois. For the first time in months she called off and she couldn't get anyone to cover her shift. The boss took her off the schedule for the weekend (2 additional days) as punishment. Is this normal for US restaurants? Boss is always complaining about people calling off but instead of finding coverage for 1 day, now it's 3. And I'm pretty sure she'll be fired if she has to call off again.
