Do Your Au Pairs Treat You Too?

Just a general discussion question, away from the usual challenges families and au pairs might face 😊

Of course families should treat their au pair whenever they can, like taking them out for a meal ot getting a to go. But I’m curious, does your au pair also treat your family sometimes? Maybe with takeout or a small gesture?

I’ll start: our au pair celebrates our birthdays and prepares something special for us 🎉

Key-Fob unlocks but won’t lock the car

I have a 2020 CR-V. Today I tried locking it using the key fob, but it didn’t work, it unlocks the doors and trunk just fine. I replaced the battery and also tried the spare fob, but same issue, it unlocks, but won’t lock the car. I can lock the car manually using the key & from inside using the button. Also, the red LED lights up when I press the lock button on the remote, , so it seems like it’s sending a signal. Has anyone experienced something similar or know what might be causing this?

Let Au Pair drive after accident

Hi everyone,

Just looking for some advice from anyone who went through something similar.

Our au pair just got her license around 3 weeks ago. As we promised, we supported her through getting it and even provided a dedicated car for her use, even though we don’t ask her to drive the kids anywhere.

Last week, she had an accident (rear-ended another car), and insurance determined it was her fault. Now the car is in the body shop, and I’ve been dealing with insurance, premiums raise, the other party, delays… honestly pretty exhausted with the whole situation.

We know it’s not easy to get around here, so we got her a bus pass as a temporary solution until the car is fixed. Now she’s asking to use one of our cars because she doesn’t want to spend a long time on the bus compared to driving.

I’m honestly not sure how I feel about that, especially since the accident just happened, but also trying to be fair.

Anyone had a similar experience? What did you do? Would you let her drive your car or wait?
