ROACHES IN MY AIR BNB

Currently staying in an Airbnb in South Korea I’ve been here for two months and planned to stay another four. I haven’t had any issues with my room. It wasn’t the cleanest when I arrived and communication with the host wasn’t great at the beginning but otherwise it’s been fine.

Couple nights ago I suddenly saw two roaches in my room coming from my air conditioner. I contacted the host immediately. I asked if it’s possible they just wondered in as it’s becoming summer or could it be an issue. The next morning I saw another one go into the air conditioner. I contacted the host again. We went back-and-forth maybe three or four times and I asked if I could have some type of inspection and repeatedly expressed my concern. She contact the building maintenance and they came by and gave me some paper traps. I told her that wasn’t going to fix the issue and need someone to come inspect but my host said she won’t call anyone.

I went back-and-forth with her so many times and Airbnb support as well and she eventually just stopped responding so I packed up and left . I am trying to get a refund as I just prepaid for the next 30 days. is it reasonable to want my money back? I’m waiting to hear back from support but sounds like I might only be eligible for 30%. I paid 1,200 dollars..

The host is now messaging me and seems as she’s trying to shift blame. Now she says I must not have cleaned my food properly. Apparently there is a monthly inspection and treatment from the building and she did not inform me that was happening, so I wasn’t home to let them in my apartment. She is now telling Airbnb and me as well that I should have opened the door. I’m not responding to her, but I’m wondering if I am wrong for leaving. I also have no proof that I was keeping the room clean so I’m worried she’s going to shift blame.

It’s an old building and an apartment so I understand sometimes things happen. I don’t blame her for the roaches obviously they came recently. They could’ve come from a different apartment room as well. My issue is her lack of urgency to create a solution and take me seriously.

This whole thing has been horrible as I had to suddenly find new housing and move completely by myself.

Roach in my apartment

I’m staying in a one room in Seoul- tonight I saw two gigantic bugs I believe were cockroaches. Definitely some type of roach. They came out about an hour apart from each other. I searched my room and can’t find anymore, but I’m freaking out wondering if this is a normal for them to get in occasionally or does that point to there being a bunch in here? Should I message my landlord?

After I saw the first one, I shut my window, put some bug spray and the other one suddenly appeared. The window was shut so it had to have been in here already at that point and I just hadn’t seen it yet.
