lazy susan dragging across bottom of cabinet and getting caught on bracket nails

hi! trying to help fix my roommate’s lazy susan. the pole in the first two pictures is usually connected to the top but i disconnected to be able to see underneath the bottom circle.

i read two ways to fix it

  1. life the pole
  • tried it, no way i have figured out how to do it. that little metal thing in photo 3 spins and feels connected to the white circle piece on the under side that goes into the hole in the metal bracket but it isn’t shortening or lengthening anything. seems useless?
  1. putting some circle device underneath of it to create distance between the shelf and the ground, but im not sure how to know if it’ll work/fit.
