Is Pharm.D actually a good career for the future ?
Hi everyone,
I’m interested in doing Pharm.D after completing an Associate Degree in Science from a community college. I’m thinking about joining Ernest Mario School of Pharmacy at Rutgers for Pharm.D. I wanted to know from people who are currently doing Pharm.D or have already graduated, is Pharm.D actually a good course to go into? Is it stable and will there be good demand for it in the future? I was thinking pharmaceutical and healthcare jobs would have good demand, but I’m not really sure what the job market will look like.
Also, what kind of jobs can you get after Pharm.D? I know you can work as a pharmacist, but I’m also interested in other careers like medical affairs, regulatory affairs, MSL, etc. I’m also planning to do a 2-year fellowship at Rutgers after Pharm.D, so I wanted to know how useful that would be for getting into these types of jobs.
My long-term plan is to move to the GCC or possibly Asia after my fellowship. So if anyone has experience working in those regions with a US Pharm.D, I’d really appreciate hearing about it. Is a US Pharm.D + fellowship useful there, and would I need any additional licensing or work experience?
I’m still trying to figure out if Pharm.D is the right path for me, so I’d really appreciate any advice, especially from people who have actually gone through it. And if you have other recommendations of college or any 9ther course that will be good for the future please mention it too.
Thanks in advance!
