Bored at the airport, I have nowhere to vent to this about. I have no clips as I am traveling. I’ve been drinking at the airport bar, as my flight is delayed.

Monday morning I was racing a guy, and he chopped my nose while I was on his inside causing me to almost spin and lose several seconds. I was like 2.5 tenths a lap faster than him. When I got back to him, he pulled the same move of cutting my nose off. The difference is this time I didn’t slam on the brakes as I was already in my braking zone, and last time I slammed on brakes I almost wrecked.

Ended up moving the guy up the racetrack. I finished 5th he finished 6th.

Right after I got through TSA at the airport I got an email telling me I’ve been suspended for a week due to this bump and run.

WTF iRacing???

I have come up with a situation that can make one ponder, where is the line on intentional wrecking?

Let’s say somebody punts you…. But you are able to save it. You start to slide but you can spin without hitting anything…. Or even save it outright. Instead, you choose not to fight the wreck, and spin your car directly into theirs so you both wreck. Is that intentional wrecking? The guy who did the punting definitely initiated the contact…. But you didn’t do everything you could to avoid the wreck. Where does the blame fall on that?

Another situation…. Let’s say you know somebody is going to make a reckless move but you actively CHOOSE not to avoid the contact as you’re trying to bait the protest…. They actually change their lane so that they can ensure the contact happens. The iRacing equivalent of foul baiting (somebody actually did this to me on a slider I was trying to pull once and protested)…. Where does the blame fall?

Just some interesting situations

Has Daniel Suarez ever been in a good situation until this season? He was thrust last minute into the 19 car and got dumped out of it after 2 seasons despite showing some flashes. He went to the Gaunt 96 which was trash. He then went to the upstart Trackhouse 99…. Which was a startup team.

Then Trackhouse bought Ganassi so he was in a good situation again in 2022. Over time, his team’s performance went downhill. He still won 2 races during his tenure there…. But as we see with Zilisch’s performance (he inherited the 99 renumbered 88)…. Suarez’s team was absolutely trash there.

He has a Coke 600 win, a 13th place average finish, and is sitting 9th in points while driving the Spire 7 car that nobody else has ever done anything in.

Let’s not forget, Daniel Suarez is an Xfinity Champion. I don’t think he was ever the problem. I think his teams have always been the problem.

Do not be surprised if he has a Martin Truex arc where he becomes one of the sport’s top drivers with Spire. I’m not saying he’ll quite reach the heights Truex did…. But don’t be surprised if he knocks down some Top 5 points finishes as Spire improves even more.
