AITA for refusing to cancel my plans because my wife changed hers at the last minute?
I (29M) have been married to my wife (28F) for three years. We normally get along well, but we’ve been arguing about something pretty small that has turned into a bigger issue. a few weeks ago, I made plans with two of my close friends to go to a concert. My wife knew about it and said she was fine with it. She had her own plans that evening with her sister, so neither of us expected to spend the night together. The day before the concert, her plans got cancelled. She told me she wanted me to stay home with her instead because she didn't want to spend the evening alone. I told her I understood, but I still wanted to go since I'd already made the plans and hadn't seen these friends in a while. I offered to spend the afternoon with her and have dinner together before I left. She got upset and said that if I really wanted to spend time with her, I would cancel the concert. She also said she would do the same for me if our situations were reversed. I told her that's exactly what bothers me. I don't expect her to cancel her plans whenever mine change, and I don't think marriage means we have to automatically give up our plans whenever the other person becomes available. She ended up saying I was choosing my friends over my wife and barely spoke to me for the rest of the night. I feel bad that she's disappointed, but I don't think I did anything wrong by keeping plans she already knew about. AITA for refusing to cancel my plans just because my wife's plans fell through?
