I noticed something about the last titles italy won (1982, 2006, 2021).

Each one of them featured a dual-playmaker (doppio play) in the system.

1. 1982 had both Antognoni and Conti pulling the strings in the middle.

2. 2006 had pirlo and totti alternating playmaking

3. 2021 had jorginho and verratti sharing the duty

Also worth mentioning the "almosts" of 2000 and 2012. Albertini + totti and pirlo + cassano

Definitely something we have been lacking since 2021
