Did Sex In The City Flip-Flop??

Did Sex In The City Flip-Flop??

So I was reading here and saw a few people saying Sex In The City flip-flopped?

I know it as Sex In The City... At the time, it was so liberating for women, and a very big deal. Media was saturated with it! I have a raunchy anchor memory about the name that I won't repeat here - but it was for sure Sex In The City!

https://preview.redd.it/bqzlhm0lr9fh1.jpg?width=585&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c611a16ad9b0c6b7f159d81a2924fb5d80406646

Then the Mandela Effect happened and suddenly the title was worsened to Sex And The City (womp womp). Sorry historic and hilarious ground-breaking show..  : (

Sometime after the change, I stepped away from the Mandela Effect because the topic was overrun with toxic conversation - we didn't have an amazing sub like the Society back then!! Then yesterday I happened to read here that Sex In The City flipped back to Sex In The City??!

https://preview.redd.it/qrtthbanr9fh1.jpg?width=3072&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e4a03216bc90f4649d4b26a1eb2c9c4620d4fc92

So it changed back to normal while I was away??

...but NOW IT'S BACK TO THE CRAPPY TITLE?

https://preview.redd.it/cbkowtgpr9fh1.jpg?width=1366&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ac499c286a8720c39a6c27f864fc7ffd811c5e1c

Basically, I missed when it flipped back? So.. it was "In", then changed to "And" - then back to "In", and now back to "And"...

Can anyone confirm??

Why do some people struggle understanding the Mandela Effect? Why does it make some people angry?

We’ve had an influx of "naysayers" over the last week, which reminded me of how curious their behavior and reasoning is. It's so prevalent that I think there's something deeper there - as though the pattern in their logic tells a larger story.

First, why do they attack something they aren't affected by? For instance, I'm not impacted by spicy regional cuisines, so I don't waste time going into those forums to tell people what I think about their food. I don't tell them how to cook and I'm not mad at them. If a recipe comes up in my social feed that I don't like - I don't cook it. Easy right? If too many of those recipes come up in my feed, I mute those subs - all without breaking a sweat.

Second, these "skeptics" always rely on a false sense of authority - citing their age, location, or the current state of reality. They claim to have the answers because they're 50 years old, or because they just Googled something, or because they "knew a guy who had those books."

The problem is that the 'authority' they're reaching for doesn’t apply to the Mandela Effect... It doesn't matter how old you are. It doesn't matter if you have a vintage Bible. If reality changed, that means your old Bible changed too. How does that not make sense?

Thirdly is the anger.. Some people get wildly upset about the Mandela Effect. I've had people tell me about all kinds of "conspiracies", but I just say "I don't really go for that stuff, sorry." whereas if I tell someone about the Mandela Effect, they lose their shit.

Is it a flight-or-fight response to something that's scary to them? It has all the hallmarks of actual cognitive dissonance.

Fourth - why do "skeptics" assume we aren't skeptical ourselves? They assume we don't have logic on par with theirs. Obviously we know memory is fallible - but memory is the first step in knowledge, and we're talking about things we know well, not a flimsy recollection. It's bizarre how much "skeptics" lean on the "bad memory" excuse, like the people in the world around them are inherently dumb or something.

Fifth - "skeptics" misunderstand Occam’s Razor, yet constantly throw the term around, thinking it means "the simplest explanation is the correct one". That's a misunderstanding though - the principle actually states "when presented with competing hypotheses, start with the one that makes the fewest assumptions."

The irony? Skeptic's "bad memory" excuse requires a tower of assumptions to explain away the Mandela Effect.. You'd have to assume millions of unrelated people across the globe simultaneously suffered the same highly specific neurological glitch, misremembering the exact same details in the exact same ways ways. Not even similarities in human behavior and psychology can account for that..

Attributing the Mandela Effect to reality changing doesn't require more assumptions than assuming a synchronized, worldwide failure of human memory.

Even if Occam's Razor meant what they think it does, the simplest solution is not automatically the right one. It's a methodological tool, not a universal law - and if it's wrong, it's wrong.

I've been involved with the Mandela Effect for well over a decade.. I’ve always been fascinated by the logic behind the things they say. They treat reality changing - possibly the biggest thing to happen to humanity in 2,000 years - as a simple case of flawed memory. They seem to willingly miss the point and ignore important facts. They reach out snobbishly to solve something they don't understand. They're annoyed by something they aren't impacted by...

The behavior is flawed.
The logic doesn't pass the acid test of common sense.
It's fascinating.

So what do you think? Do you have any theories?

Converse high-top's famous Star Logo is on the INSIDE of the ankle now?!

This Mandela Effect has been known for a while, but there's been talk in the sub about them recently, and some people weren't aware the Star Logo was is on the inside now..

A few years ago I was coming out of a shop downtown and one of the guys was outside smoking.. He was wearing Converse, so I asked him if he'd ever heard of the Mandela Effect. He said "Oh, where people remember stuff different or whatever?" and I said, "Yeah, like a lot of people remember that logo being on the outside" as I pointed down towards his shoes. He looked down and was silent for a second, then said "You just blew my mind"... He went on to say that he could have sworn the logo was on the outside.. We talked for a few minutes and you could tell he was genuinely weirded out.

There is a HUGE number of people that remember the logo on the outside.. Consider the guy who was wearing the shoes and thought the logo was on the outside.

This Effect follows in line with one of the most common things about Mandela Effects - it's always a change for the worse.. Think about it, why would you put your logo on the INSIDE of the ankle where it was harder to see? I wonder if the designers were like "damn.. why didn't we think of that". lol

This Effect isn't because of a knock off, or a special Japanese line. It's not tricky advertising or the Converse "one-star" sneaker line..

These were the shoes on our feet. We bought them. We wore them. People like myself decorated them with a sharpie... We bought them in department stores and malls. People that had them a long time ago remember the logo on the outside (check out the screenshot below), and people recently too.

The guy in the screenshot is so confident in their knowledge, they're posting in the r/Converse sub!!

Old School

Check out this evidence from Claude AI when using only it's model training set as a reference (not using the current internet / reality).

And finally - here's what they look like today:

WTF? No thanks!

LMAO

They are so silly looking now.. It literally looks like they're on the wrong feet!

The moment you knew it was real.. What was your first Mandela Effect?

You never forget your first time..

What's the story behind your first introduction to the Mandela Effect? Did you get that weird, hard-to-describe feeling?

I'll never forget my first experience..

I was standing in my living room flipping through YouTube videos on my TV.. My feed had a video from Jacob Israel about the Mandela Effect. I had heard of the Mandela Effect in passing, but never looked into it, so I decided to play the video.

He ran through some examples, Bernstein.. Fruit of the Loom.. My brow furrowed and my eyes narrowed with the onset of confusion. Was this guy serious? He sure seemed like it.

Then the image of the Map of the World came up.

Being a 'map person', a strange type of awe came over me.

A tear welled at the corner of my eye. Not from sadness but from a feeling I've never had before.. Jacob was presenting this as something real - as though I could look at the small globe on my desk and confirm the changes he was talking about.. He sounded completely sincere.

The feeling is hard to describe. My mind was blank but racing. The concept of "reality changed - I'm not where I was" began to set in. It was a slow but powerful shock to my system.

I checked the globe.

Jacob was being completely sincere.

So, what was your first experience?

That weird feeling persisted for each ME after that.. Converse.. Wizard of Oz.. JFK limo.. Bible verses.. etc.. It got easier as the years went by.. Now I'm completely used to it.

So share it up! What's your intro to the ME story?

Was it something obscure that only you would know? ..Did you notice a change, but didn't know about the Mandela Effect yet? ..How did people react when you told them?

Kit-Kat is getting salty! ..Don't be sh!tty Kitty - observe don't absorb!

This came up the other day and I was honestly a little shocked at Kit-Kat's social media team being off-putting toward their own customer base..

Seems like a divisive response, not inclusive or playful at all like you'd expect from a good Kat.. I guess I expected something witty from the Kitty.. ..I mean really, give us a break!!

Kit-Kat snapped.. and not in a good way.

Their patience must be wafer-thin to offer up a half-baked response like this. They totally melted under the heat on this one, leaving a bad taste in our mouths that is all bitter and no sweet!

Here is s'more delicious residue for you, plus a mock-up that reminds me of the ol' kitten-caboodle:

u/FearElise is BACK!!

I was lying in bed and browsing Reddit before calling it a night when I got a notification saying there was a problem. A different notification from my phone popped up saying I had an email from Reddit.. Here's what I got:

https://preview.redd.it/p6htgcqlyo9h1.png?width=1935&format=png&auto=webp&s=19dbafa65088fb29b90cfedc4c643dce89bdd64c

The email asked me to change my password and was vague as to why. I assumed someone was trying to brute-force my account, so I got out of bed and went to my office then changed my password.

I quickly found out I couldn't remove a comment on the Sub. I tried to send a message to our group chat, but it errored out.. By this time it was very late - and I was very worried.

The next morning, I made a ticket and waited..

The next day, I contacted my friend and yours, u/MintyMancinni. I asked them to take control of the Sub. They stepped up bigly, thank you Minty!

Over the next few days my posts began to disappear...

Then my profile said I was banned.

I still hadn't heard anything after a few days so I made another ticket with a different department in case I got it wrong the first time. Minty found out I wasn't the only one dealing with this.. It looked like a glitch.

I could do a few administrative things. I could see our group chat but couldn't write anything. I got notifications on new posts and reported comments, but I was only able to remove some things and not others.. It was like I had one foot in and one foot out in some kind of digital waiting room.

The owls are not what they seem..

Time went by.. A lot of time. I lost my Reddit streak of 680 days (I know).. Supposedly it can be restored (I took screenshots). My account was just a few months shy of 10 years old - and now it was gone. Nobody knew what was going on and I couldn't get answers.

..And the "glitch" was affecting A LOT of people:

https://preview.redd.it/je5xva1k1p9h1.png?width=1216&format=png&auto=webp&s=f56f15529a140ccbdd87420507234ec588971dfd

I'd made my Reddit account all those years ago in part to secure my band's name at the time, "Fear Elise" (a play on Fur Elise). Also because the social site I was on was becoming a sh#thole. I had gained some notoriety for my ME posts there, and people looked forward to them - but the site was overrun with politics and had changed so much over the years - it just wasn't worth it anymore. Myself and another ME advocate left and came here. That site shut down a few years later.

My very first post here was a Mandela Effect post 10 years ago!

I posted in that "other sub" occasionally, but found the same level rudeness and closed-mindedness as the site I left. I tried the "other other ME sub", but eventually was disappointed there too.

I'm 100% confident the Mandela Effect is real, and it's easy to defend - but constantly arguing the same points gets old after a while, their goal I'm sure.

So I walked away altogether..

It seemed like there was no place for us.

Then it hit me..

I know what I want, it's what we all want. A place that TRULY SUPPORTS Affected and ME curious people. A place where we can talk openly about this incredible phenomenon!

So, why not create a community with actual community? Like, a whole Society?

..Something that's intellectual and empowering. Something we can be proud of.

..And so the Mandela Effect Society was born.

We'd been up nearly a year and were gaining serious traction when the "glitch" happened. We'd had lots of compliments and people were genuinely happy.. New discoveries were being made and people were getting comfortable with the concept. ..But the glitch had gone on so long I was starting to think it was over.

I don't know what was fixed - all I know is that I'm very, very glad it's fixed! I'm ready to jump back in - and I'm more inspired than ever.

A very special thanks to u/MintyMancinni. They are a co-owner now as they've more than earned it.. They were instrumental in keeping the sub afloat and in getting me back. They are highly invested in the cause (and the Society) and have put in a ton of work. So, hats off to them - we could have lost the Society if it weren't for them!

Thanks to the rest of the team too.. Thanks to everyone who was asking about me and the well-wishes..

Thanks to our community too - there's been some amazing content posted over the last few months!

Guess who's back? ..FE's back!

Several months ago, I was laying in bed browsing Reddit before calling it a night.. I was about to hit the lights when I got a notification on Reddit saying there was a problem. At the same time, I got a notification via my phone that I had an email from Reddit.. Here's what I got:

https://preview.redd.it/mvl2fcal3j9h1.png?width=1935&format=png&auto=webp&s=7156d35d802b9997f11680f06b0fed60839ec614

The email was asking me to change my password.. I assumed someone was trying to brute-force my account. I was concerned to say the least. I didn't want to change my password from my phone, so I got out of bed and went to my office. I logged in, then made sure the email from Reddit was legit. It was, so I logged into Reddit and changed my password.

I thought I'd check the Society while I was on, and quickly found out I couldn't remove a comment.. I tried to send a message to our group chat and it errored out.. By this time it was very late - and I was very freaked out.

Over the next few days my posts began to disappear...

Then my profile said I was banned.

I made a ticket and waited.. I contacted my friend and yours, u/MintyMancinni and let them know what was happening. I asked them to take control of the sub and they stepped up bigly - thank you Minty!

I made another ticket and still hadn't heard anything.. Minty found out I wasn't the only one going through this.. It looked like a glitch of some kind on Reddit's end.

I could do a few administrative things. I could see our group chat, I got notifications on new posts and reported comments.. I was able to remove stuff sometimes.. It was like I was partially here, with one foot in and one foot out. I was in some kind of digital waiting room.

The owls are not what they seem..

Time went by - a lot of time. I lost my Reddit streak - I was at ~680 days (I know).. I took screenshots of my streak before it disappeared so it could be restored as I had read that'd be possible..

My account was just a few months shy of 10 years old - and now it was gone. Nobody knew what was going on and I couldn't get any help.

It was becoming evident that there were A LOT of people affected:

https://www.reddit.com/r/ModSupport/comments/1ua5tg5/multiple_high_contenttrusted_users_appear_to_be/

I'd made this Reddit account all those years ago in part to secure my band's name at the time, 'Fear Elise' (a play on Fur Elise) - but also because the "social" site I was on was turning into a sh#thole, and being overrun by hardcore political jerks.. The site was decent and I had gained some notoriety there for my Mandela Effect posts. People looked forward to my weekly posts like a podcast.. Myself and another person fiercely and smartly defended the Mandela Effect against the growing swarm of out of control assholes. The whole site had changed so much, and it wasn't the same anymore.. Eventually we'd both had enough and left. We both went to Reddit. A few years later the site shutdown.

In fact, my very first post on Reddit 10 years ago was a Mandela Effect post!

I posted in the "other sub" occasionally but found it had the same level rudeness and closed mindedness. I tried the "other other ME sub" but was disappointed there too.

I'm 100% confident the Mandela Effect is real. I have no problem defending it - but constantly fighting gets old - and that's what they want. Hearing the same people spouting the same elementary excuses got to be enough, so I walked away altogether.

It seemed like there was no place for us..

Then it hit me..

I know what I want. I know what we want. I know what's missing from the ME sphere.

Why not make a sub that TRULY SUPPORTS Affected and ME curious people?

Why not create a community with actual community - a Society.

Something intellectual, something empowering. Something we can all be proud of.

I have lots of varied experience that would be helpful - from the military to project management to site and server administration including leadership and management roles. Not to mention, years and years of ME battle experience straight from the trenches.

I can't believe I hadn't done something like this sooner...

..and so The Mandela Effect Society was born.

The Society had been up for nearly a year when Reddit's "glitch" happened. We were just gaining traction. The glitch had gone on so long I was starting to think it was over.

I don't know what to say other than I'm very, very glad it's fixed. I'm ready to jump back in, and I'm more inspired than ever.

A very special thanks to u/MintyMancinni. They are a co-owner now, and they've more than earned it.. They are highly invested in the ME cause and the sub. They were instrumental in keeping the sub afloat and in getting me back! Hats off to them - a true friend indeed. We could have lost the Society if it weren't for them!

Thanks to the rest of the team too! Thanks to everyone who was asking about me and the well-wishes!

Thanks to our community too for posting some great content and fighting the good fight..

Locked, cocked and ready to rock!

Policy Update: Cross-Posting and Linking Etiquette

A few communities on this platform are fundamentally incompatible with the core mission of The Mandela Effect Society.

In particular, there is one subreddit whose general posture on the Mandela Effect is the exact polar opposite of ours. Because of their anti-knowledge stance and history of hostility toward our Beloved Society and the Mandela Effect phenomenon in general, we are establishing firm guidelines.

We feel so strongly in our mission to allow supportive ME communication - and all the benefits that entails - that we choose not to support them in any way. This includes posting links to their sub, posting articles from their sub, and even naming them outright (though many people here have nicknamed them "the Septic Sub").

Conversely, we respectfully don't post links to our Society or our articles in their sub - and we ask that you do the same.*

WTF is that!?! No thanks..

Effective Immediately:

• No Cross-Posting:

Do not copy+paste their articles here, and please do not cross-post our content onto their board.

- If you see an interesting idea there, you're welcome to re-work it in your own way, adding your own ideas for our Sub. We support sharing knowledge surrounding the Mandela Effect.

- As an original poster (OP) with original content (OC), you might like to get as many eyes on your ideas as possible! ..To that end, as the OP, you are absolutely welcome to paste your OC here, even if you previously posted it in the other sub.

• No Direct Links:

Do not post links to their subreddit or threads.

• No Mentions:

Do not name them or advertise their community here (even to complain about them). We can't stop you from using their nickname, but we will remove any direct mention of their sub.

By staying clean, we will keep our energy positive, supportive, and focused on exploring the Mandela Effect phenomenon. Their nature necessitated our Society - we were born from their failures. It's what makes us different and we're growing every day. We are even becoming known off-platform! Each of your voices are valuable and sought after. We will continue to lift you up and make sure you are heard loud and clear. You are a part of a movement. Thank you!

We stand on our own as something unique in the ME space - we are a breath of fresh air that will not be polluted.
