So I was reading here and saw a few people saying Sex In The City flip-flopped?

I know it as Sex In The City... At the time, it was so liberating for women, and a very big deal. Media was saturated with it! I have a raunchy anchor memory about the name that I won't repeat here - but it was for sure Sex In The City!

Then the Mandela Effect happened and suddenly the title was worsened to Sex And The City (womp womp). Sorry historic and hilarious ground-breaking show..  : (

Sometime after the change, I stepped away from the Mandela Effect because the topic was overrun with toxic conversation - we didn't have an amazing sub like the Society back then!! Then yesterday I happened to read here that Sex In The City flipped back to Sex In The City??!

So it changed back to normal while I was away??

Basically, I missed when it flipped back? So.. it was "In", then changed to "And" - then back to "In", and now back to "And"...

Can anyone confirm??

 

I posted this in the other group but it seems like some people here don't go there so, just in case I can find someone here who may have experienced this, I am reposting a slightly edited version with apologies:

Here's what happened that for a while bent the fabric of reality for me:
I used to own a video store.
I was the one to shelve and input all the VHS/DVDs that came through the store.

I can remember MULTIPLE times handling the cases for copies of "Interview With The Vampire."
I would stare at the picture and muse over the title. I loved that the "The" was so specific: it suggested the interview being conducted was with the most important or infamous vampire. It was a brilliant way to inform the viewer about a character before even encountering him at all.
(At the time I had never seen the movie and I learned later that Lestat was not the one being interviewed...)

I also put the name of the movie into the system. I had to physically type it.
Being somewhat anal, I would pay VERY close attention to everything about a title so it would be precise (in my mind) for all time in the system.
I typed in "Interview With The Vampire" and would later search for it that way.

Customers would sometimes replace the "The" with a "A" and I would correct them, but only in my head. The evidence would be right in front of them in a moment when I pulled the copy off the shelf.

About 2 years ago I heard about an ME regarding this title so I looked up images of the DVD cover--something I had dealt with countless times--and the cover said "A".
"Interview With A Vampire."
I lost it.
How could this be?
I looked up the book cover on google--"A Vampire".
Then I looked up theatrical posters for the original release: “A”!!

It rocked me partially because of the banality of what I was seeing: "A Vampire? Just any old vampire?"
Bleh.
I wrote to a friend who worked at the store and asked him, "What was the movie called with Tom Cruise about vampires.?"
"Interview With The Vampire," he said?
YES!
"Now look it up!"
He did, saw the change and couldn't fathom what was going on.

After a bit I hung up the phone and simply accepted that I may have been wrong about this, while stewing inside about how lame the title "Interview With A Vampire" was compared to "my" version.

But the memory of what "was" never left me.
Several months back I looked up the DVD again and.......it's back to THE!!!!

I texted my friend last night and asked if he remembered our conversation about the change and he did. I told him it had switched back and he felt unwell.

When this flip happened I wondered if it had ever happened before—an ME changing for someone then changing back--but looking into it when I decided to write about my experience I saw that this sort of thing is not uncommon.

I just was scrolling through retconned and the mainstream mandela effect subreddit clicking on the posts and the accounts making a majority of the comments inside the posts users profiles. A vast majority of the accounts making posts and comments that are against the phenomenon its self or are comments against those who believe when you check their profile there is no way to view their history. I understand the need for privacy and if the default was that your accounts activity was private and you had to choose to make it public than this would be a moot observation it feels.

When clicking through the posts here more than three quarters of the accounts do not have their post and comments history private. And usually in the comments its the same thing where maybe 1 out of every 5 to 10 users who comments on a post their history will be set to private. Maybe there are some risqué subreddits that they contribute to and don't want random people to discover their vices. I am fairly confident those individuals though would have alt accounts and maybe it is just that in many cases with the more open subreddits that a majority of these people are on alt accounts.

Again this is just an observation. I am probably the only weird one that goes through and looks at accounts posting and commenting to see if they have had the same consistent point of view. Where in the checking historically I have found those who do have their history shared, are fairly consistent. Be it posting about MEs or things classified as being highly strange to talking about other topics they are consistent with how they interact with others. Most of the low effort posts with a topic and maybe 5 or so words in the body of the post stating believers are dumb or comments the same way almost every one like that those users have their history private.

Maybe it is just looking for a connection to something that isn't there. Recently had a discussion about truth and fact/nonfiction. How something can be observed as true but it is only true in that someone has said it or has written it and put a name or lable on or behind it. Every story told is a "true" story. A single word or sentence isn't considered a story but can be verified as fact. The way we use language to manipulate is the same across the board. Only ever interacting over text or written word requires an understanding of how punctuation and sentence structure affects context. It is very easy for people to manipulate and manufacture a meaning behind someone else's words and using lack of context to sway favor or even distrust from it. This is my reason for checking profiles history's.

I appreciate those who have taken their time to read this. Not my intention to throw shade at any one particular individual or group of people with my words. It was just something that stood out to me that I want to believe others have drawn the same connection possibly and only way to find out is put it out there in a semi public forum. We are all in this together. Even if we have a different view from our vantage point. We are all existing at this time sharing in the life experience. If this is just a naturally occurring thing and part of change that all life goes through hopefully sooner or later this will be discovered and taught to us why it happens. Till then our best bet is sharing with others and comparing notes. Even if going in circles as long as the circles keep expanding hopefully its progress being made and not just distractions and filler.

I posted this on that other sub and got beat up. Feel better already about this community. Anyway.... my mom is 80. In full possession of her faculties, drives, manages her own affairs, goes to church, uses the internet for emails and scrabble as far as I can tell. She's never heard of reddit or the M.E.

Recent conversation with her—she raised two boys in the 70s and 80s, and bought us lots of fruit of the loom—I asked her about the logo. The only prompt i gave was "Remember, the fruit..." And she INSTANTLY said "yes,and the horn of plenty, the cornucopia".

I asked about the monopoly man. Only prompt was "he had the top hat.." Again, right away, "and the monocle"

100% how it went.

Then I explained things and her conclusion was that "Oh no, somebody is playing a trick on you"—not exactly grasping the scope of it all.

Oh, lastly.... she did NOT endorse JIFFY peanut butter. She remembers it always being JIF (as do I)

The Mandela Effect by its very nature is weird but I was wondering if anyone had experienced anything very strange since seeing the Mandela Effect.

In February 2016 I woke to a sort of sleep paralysis, it never happened before or since, on the very day I noticed my first clear definitive Mandela Effects (Lords prayer trespasses to debts and John 14:6 the way the truth and the light, now life). I couldn’t move for a couple of minutes it was literally like a heavy weight was on my whole body pinning me to the bed!

Has anything really strange or weird happened to you (other than waking up to a completely changed world).

I’m curious, when I was a kid I had a book of bible stories, and I remember being totally fascinated by the story of Kain and Abel. In my recollection Abel tended the vegetables and God was pleased with him. That made so much sense to me, that the work of tending the garden was much more humble, and so that sacrifice was not expected to be better, but God preferred it. That made Kain feel cheated of his glory, and that made him murder his brother. This story has been with me for years after, and was in the background of my reasoning for becoming a vegetarian at 16. fast forward many years, I come to find that the story goes that Abel tended the sheep, and God preferred that sacrifice. And that does not make sense to me at all. This is the clearest Mandela effect I recall.. Have any of you heard of anybody remembering this story the same way I do?

Just to be clear, it is currently FLINTstones. We are back in the correct timeline for now.

This has to prove the flip flop effect, because if it was always Flint, why would anyone ever post about it being an ME? Flint is a rock and makes sense as the title for a rock technology based show.

I distinctly remember posts on this reddit and elsewhere about it always having been spelt FLIN, without the 't'. People said that we only remember being FLINT because that would make sense for the caveman theme, but it's not actually that way in the show. Clear evidence and I'd like to know if anyone can dispute this

Same with Froot or fruit. People called me dumb for thinking it was froot

I know it's an odd take but when I was a little kid like 3 years old I did had a short brief memory about the Curious George movie in 2006, I had a recollection of that monkey had a tail but now I'm not so sure anymore

This one is obscure, but, I still remember it quite vividly. Back during the mid-early 1990s, amongst my mid-teen years, before I had any way of knowing who the music-artists were or the song-titles that would sometimes play on those Friday night jams, since they were rarely ever actually announced from the radio-stations, referring to the Free-Style Dance Music of the 80s and 90s (much better than what I considered to be the «trash/gargbage» coming out of the main-stream promotions that they called «music»), one song in particular played that I really liked where I had recorded it onto a cassette-tape (a brand new one mind you) and re-listened to the whole entire cassette-recording later that day and the next day.

Everything was fine, I had managed to fill up the cassette-tape on a Memorex-brand where each «side» typically had anywhere from 30 to 45 minutes of recording time, depending on which type of cassette-tape was purchased, all the songs played without issue, both sides, from beginning to end. Next day, how-ever, when I was really looking forward to hearing that particular song again, playing through all the jams, once it actually got to that song, the whole entire play-back apparently ended up being distorted, rendered unintelligible-gibberish, like some sort of demonic-sounding backwards-playing anomaly, where I was also simultaneously getting some sort of «intuitive-perception» (the kind of perception-state that you're in when you just woke up and are recalling the vivid-details of a very important dream that you just had where you want to write everything down before it «fades away» from memory) that «the artist has completely disappeared from the time-line» (this was BEFORE the term «Mandela-Effect» had ever even been «coined» by Fiona Broome) and I really didn't think much of it because I was still a somewhat «uneducated teenager» at the time (despite having Straight-A's).

All of the other songs still re-played perfectly fine... that one song, and only that one song, became «distorted» gibberish for some reason, and those so-called «mundane» explanations would need to be able to demonstrate being able to replicate this sort of thing from literal brand-new cassette-tapes where recordings are done only once and have no play-back issues and then the literal next day end up having only one song be «corrupted» whilst the rest of them are perfectly intact, from beginning to end, with no distortions, consistent across multiple cassette-tapes. I had no idea what the ____ to make of it back then, but, now that I've gained a lot more experience in life, have knowledge of quantum-physics, and, know not to trust any of the «main-stream» sources of information (especially that highly «astro-turfed» artificial-rank-inflated web-site that sounds like the word Encyclopedia when it comes to any kind of so-called «controversial» topics), I am able to «put the pieces of the puzzle together» a lot more clearly now.

I am also doing other work today behind-the-scenes towards proving that Mandela-Effect phenomena is not due to so-called faulty/erroneous mis-remembering (such a gas-light) but explanations on that will need to come another day because it involves a combination of crypto-graphic file-verification integrity and other things even I find very complicated.

Maybe this already exists and I just missed it.
Instead of debating what causes the Mandela Effect, why don’t we classify the cases first?
Biology classifies species before explaining evolution. Medicine classifies diseases before studying mechanisms.
Logos, movie quotes, historical events, fictional characters… are we even sure they’re all the same kind of phenomenon?
Has anyone seen research (or even a community project) trying to build a taxonomy for Mandela Effect cases?
If not… why don’t we? 💀

I just found out through another post on this sub that the Arctic landmass doesn't exist? The North Pole where Santa makes the presents? What is he just on a boat supposedly?

I specifically remember the landmass on top and bottom. We've been to both. I'm actually tripping out that it's gone. Also, south America is way too far east. I remember it being directly below north America. The two Americas sort of curved like a crescent moon with the Panama canal connecting them.

Also Kazakhstan is back? I remember it being conquered/absorbed by another country. I think it had split in two and was taken by two different Countries? Or maybe one side was taken and the other turned into something new? I dont remember exactly but Kazakhstan was no more. Now its glaringly obvious on the map.

I also noticed theres a lot more islands. Like there were a decent amount before but there are so many now! And Russia is bigger! It goes more into the middle now, there isnt a straightish line cutting it from the rest if Asia. I noticed all of these just from looking at the map for maybe 60 seconds. How many more are there if I really study it? I almost want to draw my own (very basic) map from what I remember. Or maybe draw over a current map to show how I remember things and see if anyone else remembers it like I do?

EDIT: I know Kazakhstan was gone, but I think I got the split in two confused with another country. I do know Kazakhstan was just taken over maybe 100 years ago I just dont remember the method. My favorite history teacher ever taught us and I remember thinking the name was interesting, it was fun to say.

We’ve had an influx of "naysayers" over the last week, which reminded me of how curious their behavior and reasoning is. It's so prevalent that I think there's something deeper there - as though the pattern in their logic tells a larger story.  

First, why do they attack something they aren't affected by? For instance, I'm not impacted by spicy regional cuisines, so I don't waste time going into those forums to tell people what I think about their food. I don't tell them how to cook and I'm not mad at them. If a recipe comes up in my social feed that I don't like - I don't cook it. Easy right? If too many of those recipes come up in my feed, I mute those subs - all without breaking a sweat.  

Second, these "skeptics" always rely on a false sense of authority - citing their age, location, or the current state of reality. They claim to have the answers because they're 50 years old, or because they just Googled something, or because they "knew a guy who had those books."

The problem is that the 'authority' they're reaching for doesn’t apply to the Mandela Effect... It doesn't matter how old you are. It doesn't matter if you have a vintage Bible. If reality changed, that means your old Bible changed too. How does that not make sense?  

Thirdly is the anger.. Some people get wildly upset about the Mandela Effect. I've had people tell me about all kinds of "conspiracies", but I just say "I don't really go for that stuff, sorry." whereas if I tell someone about the Mandela Effect, they lose their shit.

Is it a flight-or-fight response to something that's scary to them? It has all the hallmarks of actual cognitive dissonance.  

Fourth - why do "skeptics" assume we aren't skeptical ourselves? They assume we don't have logic on par with theirs. Obviously we know memory is fallible - but memory is the first step in knowledge, and we're talking about things we know well, not a flimsy recollection. It's bizarre how much "skeptics" lean on the "bad memory" excuse, like the people in the world around them are inherently dumb or something.  

Fifth - "skeptics" misunderstand Occam’s Razor, yet constantly throw the term around, thinking it means "the simplest explanation is the correct one". That's a misunderstanding though - the principle actually states "when presented with competing hypotheses, start with the one that makes the fewest assumptions."

The irony? Skeptic's "bad memory" excuse requires a tower of assumptions to explain away the Mandela Effect.. You'd have to assume millions of unrelated people across the globe simultaneously suffered the same highly specific neurological glitch, misremembering the exact same details in the exact same ways ways. Not even similarities in human behavior and psychology can account for that..

Attributing the Mandela Effect to reality changing doesn't require more assumptions than assuming a synchronized, worldwide failure of human memory.

Even if Occam's Razor meant what they think it does, the simplest solution is not automatically the right one. It's a methodological tool, not a universal law - and if it's wrong, it's wrong.

 

I've been involved with the Mandela Effect for well over a decade.. I’ve always been fascinated by the logic behind the things they say. They treat reality changing - possibly the biggest thing to happen to humanity in 2,000 years - as a simple case of flawed memory. They seem to willingly miss the point and ignore important facts. They reach out snobbishly to solve something they don't understand. They're annoyed by something they aren't impacted by...

The behavior is flawed.
The logic doesn't pass the acid test of common sense.
It's fascinating.
