Disappearing bridge, J. Roebling, on our way to Salem, MA
My girl and I love to travel. One day, a few years ago, we took a road trip to research the Salem witch trials because it was my thesis in grad school. Since the two of us have always wanted to go, and this was the perfect excuse to go. To take photos, research, look up primary sources, and read documents from that time.
She and I were roughly 45 minutes away and we got all excited because, she and I being from Northern KY/Cincinnati, we saw a small bridge and it said J. Roebling. She even made me turn around so she could take a photo of it. It was a tiny bridge, roughly 50 yards, maybe 60.
We were discussing bridges tonight over the phone, and wanted to see what other bridges Mr. Roebling had built. Googled it. Went down the list and I saw the one in MA is not mentioned. So I Googled it, and according to the internet, there is no bridge in MA that Roebling built. At this point we are both kind of livid because we know what we saw, we know what we did (me turning around so she could take a photo.)
However, this is even the weirder part. There is the Roebling Labs, 45 minutes from Salem, that focus on bridge structures, etc. This is the part where I know if I told anyone this, they'd say "well, it's because you saw a sign that said 'Roebling' on a tiny bridge, it was the name of the company, not the bri-" No. We specifically saw the bridge, the tiny bridge, saying "J. Roebling Bridge" on the bridge, in the same Nightmare Before Christmas font that is on our bridge here in Cincy/N. KY. Except it was over a yellow background.
This conversation took place about hour and a half, 2 hrs or so ago, and She had to go to bed since she had surgery while out-of-state, and she said she'll search her photo albums first thing to find the photo, but her meds were kicking in, and she has thousands of photos in her computer and phone, so she couldn't do it now. But me. I can't sleep and for the last 90 min. to 2 hrs because it is bugging me. We know what we saw.
