Fellow men, how address a male co-worker complimenting you daily?

I, a straight man, work in a large office. There is another guy in a different department than me, but we usually cross paths in the hallway or lunch room. Every day, he would comment on my suit and say how much he likes it and calls me his "buddy" or "friend". I usually just say a quick thanks and continue on. It's been ongoing for a month or so, and it doesn't bother me much but I don't want him to like think he has a chance or something. Would you just keep rolling along with it or would you lay it out to him that there's nothing here for him? Am I overthinking or overreacting?

Update: I have overreacted and overthunk this by a mile it seems
