Flirted with a friends ex
At a party yesterday I was with a friend group and ended up meeting my friend’s ex (breakup was like 1–2 months ago, and we live basically next to each other).
We were all hanging out normally at first. At some point she actually told me I should hit her up midweek so we can hang out since we live so close.
Later in the night she kind of ended up sitting with another guy from a different group for a while, and I didn’t think much of it in the moment.
After that, we ended up in a car together with a few others leaving/doing their own thing. That’s where we actually talked more and I flirted a bit — I did this “cube analysis” thing on her (just a playful mind game), and she was actually surprised I got it so accurate but stayed calm about it. I also had a couple moments of strong eye contact and I think I glanced at her lips once or twice, nothing over the top, just tension in the moment.
She was still pretty chill the whole time, no awkwardness, we kept talking normally, but I also noticed she was texting that same guy she was sitting with earlier.
Now I’m just in my head about it because:
- she’s my friend’s ex (recent breakup)
-there was clearly some flirting/tension
-but she also wasn’t really escalating or initiating much herself
-and I don’t want to misread the situation or create weirdness in the group
Part of me feels like there was mutual interest, part of me feels like it was just a fun/social/flirty party vibe and I’m overthinking it because of the friend situation.
I’m not trying to force anything or make it awkward just want a realistic read on what this kind of interaction usually means from an outside perspective.
