OT Application Rejected

Hi all,

I live in the UK and applied to study OT MSc (Pre-reg) and I've been rejected because I don't meet the academic standards.

My initial reaction was sadness; however, I don't want to give up. I do have a Software Engineering degree but that was almost 20 years ago 😅

I have emailed admissions for feedback but has anyone had a similar experience, and what would you suggest my best way forward to be?

Thank you in advance for any advice 🙂

Pro-human developer resources

Hey,

I am interested in finding resources which are pro-human developer rather than AI-leaning. For example, Codeberg leans more towards code developed by a human rather than AI generated, and Zig has a no-AI policy for their developers.

It would be good to find a list of coding resources which promote human written code whether it be learning platforms, languages, development tools, or even podcasts which still focus on the human developer.

I do understand that as developers we are now strongly advised to use AI in the workplace, and I know that pro-developer resources are not feasible in most workplaces now; however, I would continue to like to code myself as much as I can in my spare time.

Thank you all in advance 🙂

University Preparation

Hi all,

I've applied to study Occupational Therapy at University in the UK starting next year and, if accepted, will be moving my career from a software dev into OT.

Firstly, thank you to this sub-reddit and for everyone who has answered my questions over the past year; it has really helped me discern that this is the route I should take.

I was wondering if anyone had any advice for preparing for the course interview or anything I should read-up on before starting the course? I would like to be prepared, even if I don't know if my application will be accepted yet.

Thank you again!

Future Job Prospects

Hi all,

I have applied to study Occupational Therapy in the UK next year. If I am accepted, it will be a two year MSc course as I already have a degree in Software Engineering and will be moving my career.

After reading a few posts lately on this sub-reddit I have become slightly apprehensive about future job prospects though. There seems to be discussions surrounding lack of placements and lack of band-5 jobs. I know there is a need for OTs but there is a lack of funding.

This is something I want to do, and if I'm accepted then I'll be over the moon, but should I be a bit more realistic about the future and job stability?

Thank you for any advice!
