Fujifilm XF 18/1.4 or Voigtlander 18mm f/2.8?
Currently I have a Fujifilm XF 18/2 (actually I had it for years already), but I am not happy with the optical performance.
I am mainly looking for a "city walkaround" lens on my X-T30 III. Both the XF 18mm F/1.4 and the Voigtlander 18mm fit in my budget, but they are very different lenses of course.
My requirements:
- great optical performance (CA, distortion, sharpness) without software corrections to the RAWs (I work with RawTherapee, and even with the available lens profile, I find the performance of the XF 18/2 not great)
- good match with my X-T30; this makes me doubt about the XF 18/1.4 because it's much larger than the other options
- related to that, suitable as a "city walkaround" lens. I have the XF 35/1.4 which fulfills that requirement as well, but I also want a more wide angle lens (I like the 18mm perspective).
I am aware that the Voigtlander is manual focus. I don't think that's a major issue for a 18mm lens really.
May I ask which one you would choose, and why? Thanks!
