I got tired of paying Lightroom subscriptions just to sort my Fuji JPEGs, so I built my own app.

Hey everyone,
I used to be a professional photographer traveling the world shooting ballet. It was an amazing career, but now that I’m retired from the pro scene, my shooting habits have completely changed. I’ve dropped the heavy gear and now I exclusively shoot straight-out-of-camera with my Fuji (mostly chasing those perfect film simulation recipes).
Because I’m no longer doing massive RAW edits or client deliveries, I realized how crazy it is to keep paying expensive monthly fees for programs like Lightroom or Capture One just to cull, sort, and catalog my JPEGs.
I wanted a simple, lightweight tool without the bloat and without a license fee, so I decided to build my own. It’s called Proof.
It’s a straightforward cataloging and sorting solution designed for SOOC shooters who just want to organize their work without paying a monthly tax to Adobe.
I’m currently running it on a "set your own price" model. You can pay whatever you think is fair to help me cover the development fees and keep carrying on. No subscriptions, no catches.
You can check it out here: https://proof-photo.com
I’d love to hear feedback from fellow Fuji shooters to see how I can make this the perfect lightweight companion for a SOOC workflow. Let me know what you think!

Talk me out of switching to sony/canon

Hi all, I shoot with an XT5 and a lot of lenses (16-80, 70-300, 150-600, 23 prime, 27 prime, 80 prime macro) and have been thinking of switching to a sony a6700 or canon r7 or maybe even full frame.

My primary shooting is street but I also like to shoot wildlife / birds. I mostly shoot when I travel but shoot local as well (im in north cal).

I originally bought the XT5 and into fuji all together for the recipies and dials. I wanted to have high quality pics and colors SOOC since I hate editting. Ive had the XT5 for about 3 years now. Lately ive noticed I really only shoot with reggies porta and I dont really switch between the recipes I have saved. I also mostly shoot in full auto so the dials arent that useful to me. I took a trip to costa rica and was shooting the wild life and realized I was getting a lot of misses due to auto focus ( and lack of user skill) being meh. My friend wanted to get into photography recently as well so I was doing some research and stumbled onto the sony a6400/a6700. The AF is insane and quality is similar if not better than my XT5. I was wondering if it would be worth selling my gear and switching to the sony system (or canon but I havent researched much on it yet). I did hear that the XT6 is rumored to have better AF but im skeptical lol.

I also really like to pixel peep and the 40MP on the XT5 is amazing, I test shot a bit inside best buy with the A6700 and the pixel peep was pretty good on it as well.

What do you guys think? I was thinking maybe keeping the XT5 and getting a nice prime and selling everything else and getting a sony. I know there are better wild life camera set ups out there but it looks like the A6700 is a good combo for the price range (looking at olympus as well)

Lens for the XT5

I'm debating between the 23mm F2.8 pancake vs 16-55mm.

My first lens was the 27mm f2/8. Great sense, but limited focal length. I tried the 18-55mm but was not much of a brokeh and/or quality.

I mostly shoot when I'm out and about street photography, some landscapes when out camping, and most of the time my 9 month old toddler. Would really appreciate some insight on those two lenses.

If anyone else recommends any other one worth checking out please let me know. Thank you.

Just bought an X-T2! Don’t know how to use it :(

Hey y’all! Been vying to buy a Fujifilm for a couple of years now and haven’t had the financial opportunity to till recently. I just purchased an X-T2 on eBay with a shutter count of 397 for about $600. It came with a vintage SMC Takumar 1:1.8/55 lens (with the M42 to FX adapter), two 256 GB Sandisk Extreme Plus cards, and a neck strap. The camera is in good condition with a couple of paint chips to the body but that’s it. It arrived in the mail this week and I’m having trouble taking photos with it. None of the pictures I take are clear, no matter the lighting conditions. I know this is a manual lenses and that I need to do more work to achieve a good picture but I just can’t make heads or tails on what I’m doing wrong. I put the shutter speed at A, iso at A, exposure compensation to 0, metering at multi, and the drive dial to S. What am I doing wrong? Should I just save up for a new Fujifilm lens that’s automatic? Any help is much appreciated!

Sea Salt Coffee|NC|Fujifilm Recipe|X100VI

I really like the way sunlight falls on the wooden table in this set. The glass, soda bottle, and blue sea all feel bright and airy. The light coffee tone adds a soft warmth, while the whole image still feels fresh and relaxed, like enjoying an iced drink by the sea on a quiet summer afternoon.

Rainy Photowalk with XT5 + XF23 f2.8R WR

Nanzenji and Tenjuan, Kyoto

I visited Nanzenji and Tenjuan after the rain. The temples were quiet, the air was fresh, and the smell of wet leaves and the ground made the morning feel peaceful.

Kyoto always has a way of slowing me down.

X-E5 vs X-Pro3 — which would you choose for street, landscapes, and family photos?

I’m trying to decide between the X-E5 and the X-Pro3 and would like to hear which one people would recommend for my use case.
My main priorities are:
• How the camera feels in the hand.
• The overall shooting experience.
• Manual focusing and zone focusing.
• A body that suits street photography, landscapes, and photos of friends and family.
I currently use an X-Pro2 and really like the ergonomics, so I’m already comfortable with that style of camera. I’m selling my X-H2S because it’s larger than I want for the way I shoot, even though I know I’ll miss the larger EVF.
The X-E5 is appealing to me because of the larger sensor and the possibility of cropping to 65x24 in post. That said, I’m not sure whether that advantage outweighs what the X-Pro3 offers in handling and overall feel.
For those who have used both, which would you pick and why?
• Which one feels better in the hand?
• Which one makes more sense for this kind of shooting?
• How do they compare for manual focus and zone focus work?
• Is the X-E5’s sensor advantage enough to make it the better choice?

Wawona Meadow, southern Yosemite NP, late-afternoon light, California [OC] [7657x5105]

Shot on the southern approach to Yosemite via Hwy 41, May 23, around 4:20 PM. Most people roll through Wawona on the way to the Valley — I almost did too — but the way the late-afternoon light was raking across the meadow and lighting up the conifer wall made me pull over.

If you look closely there's a row of wooden posts running through the midground - remnants of the old Wawona Meadow Loop trail markers / ranch-era fencing. They're a subtle accent.

Edit: pulled the highlights on the sky, lifted the meadow greens a touch, warmed the grass - fairly close to the actual color but punched up.

Fujifilm X100VI, 23mm, handheld.
