Programs that help with mattresses?

Hi everyone. This is probably a niche topic here but I'm trying to find resources to help me with a twin sized mattress.

The good news is that I got my certificate of eligibility for a VA loan but realistically, that's 9-12 months away.

In the meantime, I'm living in a nice spot and have everything I need except for a mattress I can sleep on without waking up in excruciating pain.

I've tried mattress toppers, sleeping on the floor and it all hurts.

It's one of those splurges I just can't save enough money for because all the prices are going up for everything all at once.

I'm not a diva and almost everything in my life is thrifted but I know friends have had a bad experience with bedbugs after getting a used mattress so I'm looking for something new if possible.

My knees, neck and back are toast. I had a decent mattress before I moved to California last year and the difference is night and day.

I spent lots of time on active jump status at Ft Bragg in the old 82nd Signal Bn and it all caught up with me over the years just like the old timers said it would.

I'm in San Diego so if anyone knows of any resources to help with mattresses, please let me know.

Idk if this matters but I am 100% service connected.

I'm so discouraged because I had a nice little savings account going and then my dingdong cat ate a couple of my hair ties so the vet bill cleared me out.
