What’s the day in the life of an HSI management and program analyst gs-12?

So I’m switching over agency soon and was wondering what is it like to work here? How is the family life balance? Do people actually leave work on time are they able to take appointments and things like that?

Also, is this working in a SCIF?

Do we think it’s a dangerous time for probationary employees?

Looking for some advice here. I have an offer for a role with CPB but I would be career conditional instead of being exempt with a 2 year probation period which I am
With my current role (came on as schedule A for the current role I’m in) currently at the VA and I have a pretty easy job and laid supervisor but i’m concerned about being on probation for two years… I was in the government for eight years before I was RIFd last year and before I got this current job at the VA.

My question is, do you think it’s worth it to take the offer at CBP and maybe only potentially serve one year probationary period? But I would be able to retain my career status. The only downside is that it is not telework eligible, whereas my current role at the VA is telework eligible. The alternative would be to stay at my current role with the VA and be probationary for two years.

Just want to make a good choice and think about the future because I’ve already experienced being let go and wanted to reduce by chances of that happening again by not being on a two-year probationary period. But I’ve also never really been in a role where I was not telework eligible…

Any thoughts or advice would be greatly appreciated 🙏

Help!! What do I do - TJO

So I’ve been in the government for eight years, I was RIFd last year and finally got a job offer last month. I went through the interview process references, and I got the job to come under ICTAP however it was pulled back, I know I uploaded my RIF SF-50, but HR said it wasn’t included so the most they could do was bring me under as a schedule for that role. I accepted because I had no other choice.

Today I just got an offer for another role, I took extra extra caution to attach and make sure all the SF-50s are included and I just got A TJO from this other agency !!
Am I still able to qualify under ICTAP? I had one year eligibility and it’s still active, one year hasn’t come yet. Am I able to leave this role and go to the other role under ICTAP 😭😭😭😭😭

Kicking myself - I shouldve never accepted the schedule A!! I didn’t think I’d get another offer 😭😭😭😭 this role is DHA -direct hire authority

How long does suitability determination take for those that already have a clearance?

Anyone work for VA/VBA? Wondering how long it took for the suitability determination if you have a clearance

Is it worth it to ask for a higher step in this climate? (TJO)

I received my offer letter last week and they were able to match my previous government pay at a GS 13 step two before - at the rate before I was RIFD but I want to ask for a higher step without going through superior qualifications? I have already accepted the TJO.

Or would I need to go through superior walls? I know the hiring manager said they wanted to move fast at the interview so I don’t want them to choose someone else instead of me… But do you think I should still ask for the step increase even though they have already matched my highest pay rate from my previous salary? Thanks

Should I accept schedule A position?

I applied to a job on USA jobs, went though the interview and they would like to give me an offer, but told me that I cannot be brought on under ICTAP though I was RIFed but I would have to be brought on a schedule A. I was a federal employee for 9 years prior to getting RIFd. If I was to decline this offer as a schedule A, I would only have about two months to find a job under ICTAP again..before my RIF priority expires but I feel like it’s a gamble… feel like I should just take the offer as a schedule A but wondering what are the disadvantages and how bad it is ….

Ineligible after going through the entire interview process

I applied for a role and got a message that I was eligible for ICTAP, and that I was referred to the hiring manager.
I went in person for the interview. Everything went great. I was asked for two references. They provided a reference for me and I got a call from the hiring manager this morning that HR should be reaching out to me soon.

I thought that meant a job offer, but I just got a message from HR saying that they made a mistake and that I’m actually ineligible for ICTAP because I didn’t have my RIF -SF50…….. on file.

Now after going through the entire process ??? Ugh. I’m just so crushed. Not sure what to do.
