GL-7 Check-in for October

Are there any new offices issuing TSLs in October that weren’t mentioned earlier? Still nothing after referral email?

Hiring process with NG deployment in the middle

Looking for anyone who has experienced being in the hiring process with HSI and had a military deployment in the middle of it. Essentially I got through all of my hiring steps up until the PFT and I got tagged with a deployment. I should be home from the deployment around April timeframe of 27. I was told to reach out to HROC toward the end of the deployment and they would finish my hiring steps. I guess I’m a little worried that this will mess something up with being hired. Anyone experience this or something similar?

HSI to ERO

Looking for anybody that has made the jump from HSI to ERO in order to get closer to home.

I’m a GS11 with HSI, been with the agency for just over two years. Recently an immediate family member was diagnosed with a terminal, life limiting illness that requires an extensive amount of in home care.

My sister is currently this family member’s primary caregiver but she is unable to provide the proper level of care because she works 50+ hours a week, an hour+ away from the family member.

The family member lives in the same city as a large SAC office, and if I were able to get home, my sister and I could split the caregiving duties much more effectively.

Unfortunately, since this family member is not financially dependent on me, I’m not eligible for a medical hardship request. I’m still going to request a non-medical hardship, but I’ve been told not to get my hopes up.

If anyone has made the jump from HSI to ERO to get back home, how was that process, and do you regret your decision? For me, it’ll probably be ERO or state/local.

HSI Current Announcement?

Good afternoon everyone.

About a year ago, I was onboarded as a GL-9 Special Agent with HSI during a wave of the surge hiring period. Unfortunately, after a few months, I had to leave the position due to an urgent family matter (right before starting FLETC). It was a very difficult decision, especially after spending years working towards the position, but it was outside of my control.

I’m now looking to go through the process again and plan on reaching out to my previous POCs. In the meantime, does anyone know if there is currently a GL-9 HSI announcement open to the public? I’ve been checking USAJOBS but haven’t been able to find one. If not, has anyone heard when the next one might open?

Thanks in advance!

2026 GL9

Has anyone heard anything this week at all? I know there’s no movement but anyone hear anything from ASACs or their local office HR? Even if it’s for a new announcement we could apply under.

I understand the federal government works slow…but dang. DEA and ATF have been communicating seamlessly.

What’s the day in the life of an HSI management and program analyst gs-12?

So I’m switching over agency soon and was wondering what is it like to work here? How is the family life balance? Do people actually leave work on time are they able to take appointments and things like that?

Also, is this working in a SCIF?

EOD Issues

When does the office send reporting instructions and the Orientation link? My first day is on Monday, I have an FJO but I still haven't gotten any email on when/where to report?

Also, has anyone who EOD'd recently experienced any of the issues after EOD that were common during the surge? (No PIV, delays in getting payed, general disorderliness, etc.) Or have things improved compared to the surge?
