55" TV under ₹70k in India: Sony Bravia 2 II vs LG QNED82 which would you choose?
I'm looking for a 55-inch TV in India, budget around ₹65–70k, and I'm currently confused between the Sony Bravia 2 II (K-55S25BM2) and LG QNED82 (55QNED82BLA/BXA).
I went to a showroom and watched the same Bollywood song/video on both TVs.
Interestingly, I personally preferred the Sony quite a bit:
Sony Bravia 2 II
- Much more natural-looking picture
- Skin tones/colours looked realistic
- Less “processed” or oversaturated
- Reflections from the showroom lights were noticeably lower
LG QNED82
- Much more punchy/vivid
- Looked somewhat over-processed/“chrome filtered” to my eyes
- Showroom lights reflected more prominently
- Obviously has much stronger specs on paper (Mini LED, 120Hz, 144Hz VRR, Dolby Vision, HDMI 2.1/4K120)
The Sony is around ₹67k and the LG is around ₹65k where I'm looking.
My usage will mainly be Netflix/Prime/YouTube, movies, sports and general TV, with a possibility of getting a PS5 later. I'm more concerned about picture quality, natural colours, reflections, reliability and long-term ownership than having the maximum specifications.
I previously had a Mi TV that gave me a bad experience, so I'm trying to avoid another purchase I'll regret.
Questions for owners/users:
- If you've used either of these TVs for several months, how is the long-term reliability?
- How is the LG QNED82's black uniformity/backlight bleeding/DSE in actual use?
- Does the LG's vivid/processed look get better after calibration or changing picture mode?
- How good is the Sony's upscaling and picture processing with regular 1080p/720p content?
- Is the Sony's 50Hz/no VRR/no 4K120 a significant disadvantage if I eventually buy a PS5?
