I understand that the overall theme of the game revolves around family and trauma, but the man opened a portal to hell, initiated a demonic invasion, and harvested human blood, resulting in the deaths of millions, all for the sake of power. When he ends up in hell, he does what he enjoys most: fighting Dante.

I suppose Dante's constant watch over him, to ensure he doesn't slip back into his old ways, is somewhat of a punishment. However, in DMC 6, I want to see him undergo a redemption arc similar to Vegeta's. He should acknowledge the terrible things he’s done and actively strive to become a better person.
