Question - weight
I know there’s lots of discussion about antidepressants causing weight gain/loss. I was just wondering, especially for the weight gain side — if you track and monitor what you eat would you still gain weight?
Can antidepressants itself actually cause weight gain/loss or is it the lifestyle effects that cause it?
Just curious because correlation does not necessarily equate causation. For example on Zoloft I gained a few kgs but at the same time I did not track what I ate and I ate pretty poorly in general. But on Prozac I lost a few kgs, but tracked what I ate and ate more nutritional homemade foods.
These changes I made I believe were more lifestyle based so does anyone have any evidence on whether the medication itself causes weight change?
Edit: note I do believe some medications may cause actual weight side effects but I’m speaking more so in general :) thanks!
