I have a Dell D6000 docking station that I use with my company laptop. It has its own power plugged in, Ethernet, HDMI to my monitor, speaker and monitor lamp. Every time I try to hook it up, first ~2 times this happens, then for the 3rd time it works as intended.

Also while we’re at it, for some reason display port does not work through the dock, only HDMI. Why?

I know Macbook Neo does not have Thunderbolt, only USB3, but as far as I know, neither does my company laptop. I plug it into the USB without the Thunderbolt logo and it works every time with Display port as well.
